Does anyone else think a 9x9 plot size would be better? My thinking is that way we could get a full 2 story 3 block high room as well as having an odd number so we can center things in walls.

My guess is that it is 8 because of data size. It might be a lot less memory efficient to have one extra block in each dimesion. Or more difficult to do well. But other than that I wouldnt mind 9 blocks in each dimension. 8 works well for me too, so no big deal if you ask me. Either way you are restricted one way or another.

I’ve rarely seen anyone making 3 block stories (is that correct plural?). As for centering it works both ways, if you want to have symmetrical sides that repeat central motif than 8 works better, and 9 works better for dividing motif. But all our wishes aside 8 has a lot to do with how computers work
