Did portal conduits always cost power? I was about to mass craft some before 192, then the bug caused me to lose all of my refined timber and stone. I just got my materials back today and I log in to finally connect my main character to my alt’s home and I can’t make portal conduits anymore because for that I need 10 diamond engines. Maybe I misread the recipe before this latest hotfix, but I could have swore I didn’t need power before. Now, I need a truckload of diamond, and I can’t even survive on ringworlds anymore, even after putting lots of points into slingbow mastery, vitality, power, dexterity, agility, and defenses, and after crafting slingbows. I still die in two or three hits from elite mighty monsters, lose my gold hammer durability and have to start all over after a few deaths. I’m all for challenging, but I’m just stuck at this point. I can’t progress because I need sooo many gems to do anything more than collect stacks of rock and soil.
They did not cost power before the patch. Diamonds are now much easier to farm after the patch - they now drop multiples. Also, you can readily buy the portal conduit or the coils from many shops. Most of the bigger shops also buy your drops if you need coin to do so.
These higher item level are only really worth crafting if you can mass-craft them - which most shops do. 6x portal conduit @ 200c = 1200c in my shop (available from Therka Plaza - Omni’s shop).
Also, portals being harder is no bad thing, as they were pretty easy to get before.
Thanks for the reply. Was it patch 192 or the hotfix that made portal conduits cost power to craft?
Patch 192 - when they rebalanced fuel they also changed spark costs and power along with them.
I used to craft a ton of conduits (still have 160 left over) and they did shift the cost of spark to needing power instead so as to not be as taxing on spark. This also helps keep the amount of portal hubs on the lower side until endish game.
Good point
