Needing a monster rack full of power coils to make stuff is rediculous. With the power costs of everything, what is even the point of a regular power coil?
It’s more than a bit unwieldy guys…

I think most of that stuff is meant as late game items that as a solo player will take far longer to get than a group. Most of the city’s that you see with massive workshops fully kitted out are built by groups of experienced players. I’ve been playing Boundless for over a year and since the wipe I’ve still only just managed to find a handful of diamonds and titanium but I’m in no rush as I see this as a long term game and not a competition. I do feel that there is still a lot of balancing to be done with aspects of the grind though.
I don’t think enough people know that this is an MMO and you have to collaborate with others be that through trade or some other means. Everyone is trying to solo.their way through the end game
And we are doing quite fine, thank you
This doesn’t reflect how they market the game.
I’m a predominantly independent player primarily because the times I can get online can be quite erratic plus I prefer doing my own thing anyway.
I gotta say, it was a tough road from iron tools to power coils to make titanium tools. But when I log in today I have 10 bags of titanium bombs waiting for me and it will all be worth it. (hopefully xD)
Well, you need 15 workbench regular coils to make your first adavnced coils iirc. Also it is cheaper to make so if you dont need a lot of power you can get by with a bulk craft of regular coils, e.g. to start compacting soft coal.
Also i find rhe lower resource cost useful to top up a.machine for which I can’t afford yet the resource for more advanced coils.
Just before the wipe I had a fully functioning work shop with most of the machines either fully loaded with advanced power coils and those that didn’t had at least half a dozen each (advanced as well) … it’s going to be long way off before I get back to that again but then it’s doesn’t matter to me because I don’t see any need to rush
As a 99,9% solo player I feel you. On the other hand finding enough diamonds for regular coils powered work bench is not that hard with right build. I guess took me 6-8 hours of mining both with iron hammer and chisel for getting down around 200 diamonds.
Rubies are a bit more irritating as I have like 30-40 after 4 hours so some more heavy duty mining still waiting for me.
Imho I wouldn’t what that to change cause it is really satisfying when you finally build this stuff.
For rubies, get the Gem changing chisel!
Thought about it but decided it’s too much hassle. From time to time I don’t mind doing mindless thingsand mining fits he bulk perfectly. Beside it will be quicker now that I know how/what to look for
6-8 hours can translate to 3 or 4 days of just mining for a casual player. Should more casual players really have to spend this much time mining?
Also I don’t think this reflect how the game is implemented. It’s an MMO, but also a sandbox, you don’t “have to” do anything but you can do whatever you want. And this is one of the things that I love from this game.
About the powercoils, my concern is the timing. Why do this change now? We play through all the beta in one way and now, for not an obvious reason they made this change that not force you to change anything, but at least for me, it makes me rethink the way I’m running my workshop.
I still questioning myself. Why? and Why now?
Well either that or more hard-core players will be sticking around for a month do everything and go on to greener pastures.
Your argument is actually pretty standardstart on disscussing casual vs hard-core audience as targets. I’m not sure if we want to go into it in this topic as this would imho be a very broad change.
Edit: I am already thinking what I will be doing when I have all the coils and truth be told I have no good ideas now.
There’s not much to do beside just building really. That’s why I started to my another project to take over another planet and become it’s Viceroy
How many bombs do you get per bag?
If they want to do it all by themselves, yes. They’re not forced to however, they can either collaborate with other players (splitting the diamonds for a mass craft, and then splitting the resulting coils, for example) or banding together into groups / guilds, having communal machines with everyone involved contributing a little towards the upgrades to the crafting area.
Many hands make light work
Agreed. I’m having fun in between farming runs with my settlement building.
100 per bag. Bag has 100 durability, and if you don’t eat specific food if you toss one bomb you loose 1 durability, hence 100 bombs per bag.
