Proposed solution to issues around hunts and overlap issues

Exactly and some players can see this as greedy and unfair. Which I am sure has caused some to quit the game or at least take less interest in the game because they feel they cannot be involved in the community on the level they would like to be because like I said in my first post “The schedule is all locked up”
Then you have people who are afraid to even ask because they see the fuss on the forums over the overlaps and they just well screw it I don’t want to cause drama. When in fact for the most part they wouldn’t be starting drama but still they could feel that way.

right! like i said, im open to other people filling in, but there are complications with different guilds each leading a separate day, because they trust in one guild to do it repetitively just to find out a different group is leading instead

If I had a 5 year old kid, I might not let them use it, but… yikes.

I agree that it would be nice to have a central place for events and things though.

If the Brown hunt wasn’t every day at the same time, I would likely stop trying to do hunts on my lunch break. I can’t hunt every day, so if the 2 days a week I can happen to be the ones that are skipped, I would get no hunts that week at all.

Leaving slots open just in case someone else wants to use it doesn’t seem like a good idea. Rather than saying “Oh, I’ll just do every other day”, why not just have everyone agree that the time slot is open to negotiation?

With the calendar this wont be an issue. I can appreciate your circumstances but I know for a fact some are just fed up with trying to get a hunt at a decent time and want to stop playing all together because they cant have a time slot that allows for more people to show up. And if a slot isn’t filled then it can be filled by one of the every day hunts. But regardless it is still an issue we need to resolve as a community.
It wouldn’t stop those hunts from happening 2 or 3 days a week and you would still be able to hunt, it would just allow others access to prime time slots to have just as many attendees as other hunts.

this exactly! people dont have to only do a couple hunts a week if nobody else wants to hunt during that time, but it would be nice to negotiate certain times to allow different groups to lead hunts

Removing the consistency of hunts like you are proposing can drive away players too. What advantage does this system have over just being grownups and negotiating for timeslots?

Personally, I don’t really care about hunts overlapping.
I like certain kinds of hunts and mostly will keep with those, no matter if they are overlapping with others.
The Sasquatch guild ran hunts daily for like a full year so I have a bit of experience in all this.
When we do hunts now, we use the discord bot more as a way to let people know that we (by we I mean my brother, me and our friends) arr going hunting and are extending the invitation at large.

I even think it can be good to have multiple hunts at the same time. Not everyone likes platform hunts and not everyone likes to run from meteors to meteors. Add to that the fact that the planet is round and timezones are a thing…

Anyway. TLDR overlapping hunts is fine by me. And I feel like hunting, I will go hunt no matter if there is already a group hunting on another planet.

If they still have hunts 2 or 3 days a week there is still consistency. But locking it up is totally unfair and makes some feel like there is no chance that they can have their own hunts.

Simple this is about sharing and working together so everyone can feel like they too have the ability to play on the same level as everyone else and this should be the goal. Which is all @xyberviri and I are attempting to do here. Remove the negotiating, putting it in a calendar that allows everyone to set them for the current or coming month.

To be honest this seems like a unwillingness of wanting to allow others access to a prime time spot for selfish reasons. If said hunt still goes on 2 3 or even 4 days a week because a slot hasn’t been filled there is still consistency.
I am personally tired of players coming to me going “Dragon I don’t feel like I will every be able to have a hunt at a time that works for my life and I have communicated a want for and so and so has claimed they worked for the time slot they have and they are not sharing” so while most of us are flexible in negotiation others while being a very small number are equally inflexible with negotiating sharing prime time slots.

If everyone could feel this way we wouldn’t be having this conversation.

You can’t force people to do things they don’t want to. Some people prefer certain hunt groups/leaders over others regardless of the time slots. Some prefer specific hunts for many reasons. If we had more players this wouldn’t be an issue imo.

Personally, my philosophy is to not make it an issue and lets just do hunts at the same times, calendar wouldnt help me because I usually decide a few hours before I post.

If someone planned a hunt on the planet i would like to hunt, i either switch planet or bring my party there.

also I see a calendar like this as another unofficial source (like discord is) that will get lost trough the posts of the forums over time, and we’ll be at the same place we are regarding timeslots and daily hunt taking space and new leaders wanting their share of the pie.

there is enough cake for everyone, at all times

also a good tip to boost a hunt population, Most of the people i got to join the hunt was via in-game conversations, go on a planet, find a player you dont know, invite him, best technique

mainly consistency is key. i feel like we just need to break down that barrier of “its my time slot” but still try to keep things consistent by saying “X group leads Monday and Tuesday, Y group leads Wednesday Thursday Friday, Z group leads weekends”

Agreed and not trying to force anyone just trying to get a more community friendly way for everyone to have chances at running hunts. I simply would love to say ok stop complaining about the overlap and just let it be. But alas not everyone is open to that. You know me @majorvex and I am very laid back and chill about things. I just would like us to all come to a consensus on how to do it so it is more balanced for everyone.

ALLL OF THIS is all I wanted the conversation to spur was a road to that right there!

I don’t see why this player couldn’t join the existing hunt at that time, but that’s just me?

Just hunt whenever you want. The players are able to chose where they want to go. You can adapt your hunt according to what the other hunt is doing. For example : if one hunt is a platform hunt on a t3-t4 planet, go on a t5-t6 planet!

There will always be unhappy or grumpy people, whatever the situation is.
More hunt is best imo

If someone is willing to agree to drop from 7 hunts to 3 hunts, they are willing to negotiate timeslots.

Also, if these timeslots are really so prime, wouldn’t mon, wed, fri be taken by dragon, tues, thurs, sat be taken by core, and sun be taken by grand, and then you are back to no free slots? Who gives up a slot in this scenario, and how is that any different from the original “just negotiate like adults” idea?

Because they want to run their own hunt. We all know that running your own hunt and attending someone elses hunt are two different things.

Rydralain does have a point. I have seen players in the past that was completely oblivious of other hunts happening inestead of the usual timeslot one in the rare cases it did happen. I’ve had to tell them that there’s a different hunt today and had to tell them where to go when they showed up at the usual gathering spot despite info about it being announced in the discord hunt bot and the ingame communities & events chat. In their eyes, only 2-3 days a week can be inconsistant.
