Just though of another, that IMO is rather important. Changing the “expired beacon” message, as reclaim system now prevents items being stolen. Especially where newer players are concerned, as they probably won’t know of the change and can be worried needlessly.
Yeah, the messaging system is something that’s always been bothering me throughout the game’s history. Communication is important, so it feels like such a basic mechanic of the game should definitely be easier to use.
I do like how mailboxes work too, but I do wish in-game DMs were possible by other means.
This sounds promising, you know I am an ocean of ideas waiting to be utilized.
A way to place down 2x2 or 3x3 of a block at a time would be nice as well, though I’m not sure how that could be implemented. Maybe some kind of equipment or a “hold X key to place more when you have this perk” thing? Would at least make big builds a little less of a hassle to build. Not much, but a little.
if they can make a farming tool that can lay down aoe seeds, perhaps the same thing could be tweaked into an aoe builders tool? Two birds one (kinda) stone!
I definitely wouldn’t mind if they made a brand new tool that is kind-of like a “[building tool name here]” (Like a bricklayer set) thing, that can be toggled to place in specific size areas, kind of like how grapples can scale up/down with the keybinds.
It’d eat one durability every single block it places, and have an upper limit of how many at a time, like the 3x3 or maybe 5x5. Though I assume a 3x3 could possibly re-use the mining 3x3 in some way, just in reverse?
Might make it not even be able to be enhanced, to make things a little more balanced in how it works?
Something like this could probably be accomplished with the modding/scripting that I believe was supposed to become available in the local universes update.
I wonder if select player created mods could be vetted/code reviewed by a developer and then released to the broad universe. I know we have a lot of very capable people in both the remaining community and the community that would come back with real movement in the game.
I’ll be honest. I’m one of those people, but the documentation I have read seems more complicated than what I’d want to touch myself. For reference: Server Scripting — Boundless Modding documentation
Obviously after hands-on experience it could be completely different, though.
With the size and magnitude of my new workshop I am building, this would be a godsend!
This could be something like TModLoader does for Terraria, an extra executable that shell loads Boundless into itself for the purpose of enabling/disabling features used to mod the game, a way to tailor one’s personal preferences for the game without interfering with other players.
This could be interesting.
