different ‘skins’ (common (craftable with 100% success rate), rare (low success rate, RNG) and artefacts that can only be found) and ability to color metal / gem tools could also be added in a potential ‘tool overhaul’
could visually distinguish different forged tools, add a personal touch…
and most importantly give us more things to do
I like this idea. Old tools and weapons devoured by creatures from their fallen foes lol
When you say 5-8 random buffs… do you mean boons? I would think these need to be the same as current forged weapons, so a max of 3 of each. You could buff them randomly to varying levels of each boon/quirk/defect though.
There’s an easy fix for this already - have repair kits reduce max dura.
So you can extend the life of a loved tool but only so far…
The tools need to be way better than what is produced by the community to have any chance of being used, though.
Since there’s enough forged goods out there for everyone to be running around with their own preferred set of 3 boons, I know I would toss out the inventory clutter in a heartbeat if there was a drop missing even 1 desired boon.
Ah yeah fair point, I’d not really taken the “rarity” factor into consideration there had I
I think even one additional boon initially, making a total of 4 would make them rare - that way the devs could keep adding more or different combos of boons as time goes on, otherwise there is not much else you can do with them as other content is added.
what about just naming tools you made
i know you can see who made the tool
but wouldn it be nice if we could rename items
create funny names for potions and for example have custom colors
same for weapons add some extra recipe to add custom glows to your tools
so they truly custom
