Reduce stamina drain on death

with the new death system im fine with the xp penalty but i feel the fact you lose almost all your stamina is a bit much in some case’s its a choice of dieing over and over due to starvation or wasting food and hoping you don’t get killed as your healing up(if you happen to have it while your doing what ever it is you’r doing). the amount you are left with is only a sliver before you hit the point of starvation

my suggestion would be maybe cutting the amount of stamina you lose by 50%(or some % amount) of the total you had when you died that would still penalize people for dieing while preventing a never ending xp penalty debuff

the amount of stamina drain now is pretty extreme… seems like a lot more than the previous update… could be me though… I haven’t started a new character in a while :stuck_out_tongue:

With one cooked meat, it almost completely fills up the hunger. I never found it difficult to manage my hunger

yea it depends on your build if you are a miner/builder with max points in zeal its 4 or 5 cooked meat to max not much mind you but till you get to the point where you got a steady supply of it the loss is painful im about level 6 right now and have raged at how many times i have died to hunger cuz of 1 spitter death.

Break any flowers/plants you see and you will have more food than you will ever need

Im not sure what the perfect balance is, but you dont want it to be too easy either. Dying has to be a bad thing and something players do their best to avoid

oh yea for sure that’s why i suggested 50% that’s a big drop while not being a game ender at max that would give you 1 more death to run to safety and heal without hiting the starvation debuff. it also would allow scaleing with levels right now at level 6 the stamina drain is worse then the 120 xp debuff.

You already have the Xp penalty it is not just the reduction in health and stamina. . The Xp penalty is enough to make me avoid death.

Yeah thats a good point, but when you come back after dying with less health and stamina it feels like you were just in a fight and took damage. It makes it feel a bit more realistic to me.

Fine get rid of the xp and leave the others… all together it is too much especially the xp since leveling is the source of coin and cubits and the XP penalty is harsh

hmm, the xp penality is of cause to be painful … like the other mechanic as well. I just think it should be both balanced. To lose 10%xp is good/ok. At the beginning it is just an ouch, later a pain, but still not out of control (if leveling has the same speed as in pre-release worlds). The problem with the stamina/health thing is, that it’s quite easy to be killed right after respawning due to the very low values after coming back. that would leed to even more xp drops and demotivates even more. If that part would be painful but not THAT leathal, it sounds way more acceptable for me :wink:

yea when i was building my house on a T3 world 1 wild cuttle killed me after that it was just a chain of deaths cuz i did not have the food to get my stamina back…now im in a lot better shape but it was nuts

I for one am sick of dying with a full stamina bar to find myself needing to eat myself out of house and home because I died…

Why is it when I come back to life on this new body that he comes back next to dead… Its a new body it should be healthy not near death…

Just make it so stamina doesn’t kill you. 1% Health is fine… but killing is a NO NO!

i dont think tho the devs are going to remove the starvation debuff

I haven’t found it to be a problem. I feel if you aren’t carrying over 100 food to a new planet, you did not prepare correctly. I’ll go out and farm foods for about 15 minutes a day, then have them cooking with Peaty soil overnight. seems to be plenty and i like that it is a mechanic that you have to keep an eye on more than you used to.

However, I can see how getting stuck in a death loop could be frustrating, and tend to agree that maybe starting with 50% stamina after death could lead to happier players, and might soften the blow when you die.

yea over the course of the day i have heard a few players yell over losing all there stamina at this point its not to bad to get back but still a massive pain when you are trying to do other things.
