Release: Version strategy?

This is by far the better choice.
I was reading this, and i was like, wait for it, wait for it. Yes! they think as i do
Think about it, If the old version is default, the new players will not experience what the game really is like currently.
When they see something new on the videos, they will be like’’ huh, that is not on my game’’
So to actually not have these situations and many more either uglier or problematic, i ques this is the best thing to do.
Release the less stable version as default, more chance to experience the current bugs, making the game less buggy in the end and still experiencing the best it has to offer! And like @Talathel said, ‘‘constant updates satisfy many players’’ .

I agree, as all work will be done on the C++ version that should be the default.

Holy ■■■■, a topic we all agree on! :stuck_out_tongue:

Since the game is being switched to c++ in the end, it would 100% make sense to switch it to the default version.

If holidays exist in Boundless (which they totally should!), then the developers should commemorate this day, May 11th (I chose the 11th because I believe it is the 11th in England already, and it’s my favorite number), as a special holiday.

Another vote for making the C++ default. This is going to happen at some point, it’s better to do so sooner than later. It’s better for new players to experience the “less” that this version offers for the moment, than to feel confused and mislead when the shift is a necessity.

All the literature says this is still early alpha access. There shouldn’t be too much surprise when stepping into the game at that point. If they have any concerns on quality or game content, they’re likely to end up on the forums anyways. At which point they will have the answers and support found here.

i would recommend using the c++ as standard for everyone and then renaming the java version to “Old Universe” so that people who has spent a lot of time and effort on building on the world knows that is where their buildings are. It would be complete suicide for you guys to NOT put c++ as the standard version since its the one you update.

This makes sense. At first new players might experience a buggier / less stable client since the C++ is still in earlier days than the Java version but you might as well ‘rip off the band-aid’ now so to speak. You’re going to have to do it at some point and at least this exposes the client to a wider audience to play (and break) it, which will hopefully give you a more resilient and thoroughly tested product for launch.
