So, how large does a build need to get before the devs are so impressed they save it and apply it to release?
All joking aside, is this something that has been considered, or is a full wipe/reset the expected course once weāre out of alpha/beta?

I would say the most promissing solution are the blueprints.
You can safe a bigger building by making a blueprint of it so you can build it again after the wipe.
But afaik the devs didnāt say anything about this yet.
We only know that there will be at most 2 universes. The ones which have the most recent versions of the game which needed a wipe to happen.
So as soon as 1.0 releases weāll get a new āuniverseā which has all the cool features like wrapping worlds and regeneration.
But we can still visit the last universe which is the one weāre currently playing in.
I see. So Iām now fantastically interested in these blueprints you speak of.
A full wipe is expected since it could imbalance the economy of the game if an early access player has access to a giant build with tons of ressources in it right when 1.0 hits.
Here is a quote from a dev regarding to this topic:
PS: Please consider using the search function in the future. There are already three threads regarding this topic.
I did try and find some answers beforehand. I will seek to improve my research skills.
Thanks for the quote on that. I was actually thinking about the devs taking some of the more impressive builds and applying them as preexisting structures and cities. Not actually owned by the players. More like an acknowledgment of some of the hard work that was put in.
