My kingdom for craftable armor.
Droped my vitality stats bonus for armor/resistance on my gatherer hunter.
I don’t want to craft healing brew neither to spend skillpoints for an effective HP regen (big HP pool mean longer regen)
This way my crafter can focus on something else, than mass crafting glass container till the end of times.
I prefer shields and then eat a shielding loaf to add to it especially on T5/T6 worlds.
However, after testing out a gold fist build, I now prefer to drink a strength brew to deal more damage. You just have to be aware of what you can take when doing this.
@Trizer @deenw
How are you guys affording brews? I don’t have 500c to drop every time I go into combat.
I’ve been thinking about making my portal opening alt also a food guy…which means I need to alt a new gatherer.
I shall become a city unto myself.
for me hp,armors all good till you take a hit from the iffy fall damage.
@biv 500c isnt a lot if you have a gatherer (can make 5-10k for a few hours work depending on luck)
Mind telling me how? What are you gathering?
Things that people want. Check your local request baskets. Find the ones with the highest prices, and gather a bunch of that. Reactive lamella, shimmering orbs, fibrous leaves all usually have good prices, because they are always needed. I stopped on Arie for wood to make charcoal this evening, and gathered 300+ fibrous leaves just trying to find a forest . I wandered about for maybe half an hour and dulled my axe a bit looking, but still had I sold those leaves at 20-50c…
Shields are the only thing that matters really lol. More HP just means it takes longer to heal XD
Would you like to know how unfair tanking is? It’s the only way to hunt at the moment
Also on this note, hunting is worth a lot of money. High end forging requires quite a bit of monster parts and people make so much off me giving me the monster parts (especially trophies)
For lower levels I suggest inky leafs instead of fibrous. They go at a higher Price.
You can farm them easily on t0 planets and they sell well because they are needed in forging components and ink for Signs.
If you want, you can contact me in-game we can negotiate bulk prices for certain items to give you a guarantied return.
Besides the offers already mentioned, I frequently see people buying sweet beans for ~100c a piece, and those can be gathered in good quantities around t3+ desert areas.
If you can survive t6 atmosphere- specifically Alcyon- you can either go stealth mode or just embrace death and deathrun through the desert areas, grabbing a ton of valuable sweetbeans and exotic earthyams at the same time. You might also be able to nab some roadrunners for their feather trophies which I saw people buying/selling for 3k ea! Might be worth doing one deathrun trip which will certainly pay out enough to last for some time.
edit: I completely forgot the original thread point…I use full defenses and 0 health. fall damage isn’t bad, because I usually try to grapple which negates it.
with max defense and the occasional shielding loaf, barely anything hurts except for toxic/corrosive status effects which are scary. but the tradeoff seems worth it given that it’s 0 dmg for almost everything other than the occasional super hopper.
Asking on Discord can be a good option for selling. There’s plenty of crafters around who can pay for a steady stream of resources.
For the OP, shields are always better. Taking no damage is infinitely better than taking more damage and having to heal it all
I have a mix, a little bit of HP, and a little bit of Shields. With a shielding casserole I’m immune to anything Strong or less. And sometimes mighty if my luck is in. Elemental are the bane of my existence, except hoppers which are sadly easy to kill most times.
not really,T3 instant healing brews are easy to make.
the problem with having max shields and 1000 hp is eventually on T5/T6 dmg will get through and you will die faster then having 12k hp,for T4 and under shields are better but for higher tier health all the way.
I dunno… I have 5 points in vitality and that’s all I’ve ever needed to never die on higher tiers. Minimal shields and getting hit by an elite wildstock will one shot you no matter how high your HP is
All I have to say is, you see a meteor, throw on Shielding loaf, get to rage 2, use your rage brew and now you have a 100% chance to take no damage and you heal 60hp a second for 20 seconds
well yes that’s certainly a way to survive and works very well but shielding loaf doesn’t really count as it was simply shield vs health not health vs shields and food, shields only block a small amount of damage, its resistance that blocks you taking damage, also no wildstock can hit you for 12k+ damage (plus there easy enough to dodge)
Just to note that you can’t combine multiple food and brew for added effects.
The money you make off of a meteorite hunt or just regularly hunting monsters will more than pay for whatever food or brew you consume. If you don’t want to get into crafting, then don’t do it and focus on what you enjoy. Otherwise, this becomes a case of “penny wise, pound foolish” and you’re just adding to the grind. Just buy the food from a vendor (Deen’s Kitchen sells all the major recipes ).
If you’re on the Boundless Discord, you are welcome to join me on my higher tier hunts and I’ll show you how I do it…along with how I kill elite mighty Cuttletrunks…the ones that everyone claims are OP
