Signs, types and crafting

I just found out, after most likely forgetting, that signs require Power to craft.
This is madness.

Perhaps there should be some basic wooden sign, looks scrappy, like a classic ‘gone fishing’ sign. Rough, broken plank style. It can’t be made bigger, it’s just a simple 1x1 sign.

People leaving messages, warnings, greetings for others has been around long before any form of power. I can’t believe I hadn’t noticed before now, and for some reasons it’s really got to me.

My base is on an inhospitable world, with a portal to a temperate world for the easy-to-mine resources. Unfortunately it’s very easy for low level players to go the other way; thus I have just watched a fourth person today suffocate whilst sightseeing. Would love to be able to place a warning sign!

Yeah, it would be hugely helpful if there was a “simple” sign that didn’t require power (or drop the power requirement from regular signs)!

its a bit like doors and storage units - doors were made available in basic form from start; storage units were moved to earlier stages after players feedback;

maybe same can happen here - cause signs is such an elemental thing, that basic form should indeed be available from the start (or close enough)

Oh yus! Good point on the doors and storage. I’d forgotten they’d been moved further down the tech tree!

Only storage needed to be moved down the ladder - doors were made in 3 levels and basic one was made available in crafting bench (i like to think it was a lesson learnt after the storage failure, when people were using crafting tables and machines as storage lol).

Ah, of course!
I just want to leave a message in my plots saying hi :stuck_out_tongue:

Also just checked. Shop stands don’t need Power. So shop makers can make these but can’t necessarily label things. Eh-what.
