So far I have max power, 2 dex, maxed hammer, hammer epic.
I assume I should max out dex and Attribute Bonus.
What else should I get? I currently have 8 points to spend.
Max action speed, max power, energy regen epic, hammer epic, and the extra damage epic

Forgot about damage epic.
And max luck, to get few (depends on planet tier, how much is max though) drops from seam you need luck.

Durability Epic is a must, and luck. Zeal can be helpful to get more bang for your buck with persisting food buffs.

Durability once u have gear worth having. Dont bother with iron tools.

I guess I am unique in this regard, but I skipped the hammer epic. The hammer epic gives you less than 200 extra damage (same number of hits to break blocks on Alcyon with or without the epic). The speed increase for the epic is cool, but I am fine with my hammer speed without it and 5 points are more useful in other places (like crit. rate or the Axe/Shovel epuc for flexibility).

Strength, Hammer Mastery, Hammer Epic, Luck, Dmg Epic, Durability Epic, 5 points in the ‘+2 to all abilities’, Energy Epic, and Energy Regen Epic. Everything after that is more flavor, like Dex to swing faster, or Zeal to get food to last longer, and more energy, or control and shadow epic for less worry on the surface.

The faster, harder, more often you crit, longer your brew and food buffs last, longer your interaction range is, the better your luck on rare resources happens to be, and the more space in your inventory (light epic) the more stuff you’re going to mine up and carry back with you per mining run.
All of that makes even mediocre forged hammers give you better results. An axe or shovel build wouldn’t be much different either.
Just food for thought.

Personal preference here, but my miner/gatherer is also my builder; and has max Control. It means I can smash blocks from far away, and dig far ahead of myself. Especially good around lava.
It’s also great outside, as it reduces aggro on enemies as I’m gathering plants - not to mention I can break them from further away too, which is more just a quality of life thing for me.
Oh, and I can chop huge trees down simply by standing under them and whacking upwards.
