Slopable Stone Blocks

Currently players can’t chisel any type of stone in-game. Are there plans to add this ability in the future? Is there an ETA on such a plan?

Yes Please!! I really want to be able to chisel stone and maybe wood too?

This has been asked before … and i really hope they will give us the possibility to chisel stone + wood soon.

Sorry if it was asked previously, a search for anything related turned up nothing

But here’s to hoping it makes it into a release soon

Yeah, no problem … this has been asked in side questions not in dedicated topics

Probably see this from copper tools when they drop. My bet is that the current tool set is all just proof of concept to tide us over till crafting progression is ironed out.

You’re right there. Looking through the game files, there was nothing to depict which tool material type (i.e. wood, stone) could affect a block - just a true/false value.

I’ve also seen this with Wood, too. I would love to see the chisle be able to slope that too

I’d say that it will be possible to create sloped blocks from wood / stone / granite and other materials, but at present there are some issues in the game logic which prevent you from creating slopes from blocks that are also craftable into slabs/walls/steps …

These were ancient wood slabs, and that’s how they were placed from my inventory (and not modifiable beyond that shape!)

how did you do that?
did you apply the wood texture to a slopeable block?

I was a bit naughty and touched the game files :fearful:

Heresy! You touched the sacred code!

Look at the horrendous abomination you have brought forth!

I’m a little shocked that this is possible this easy … I thought the devs would secure the system better :frowning:

I know I know … I confessed to the OortArch himself and have repented of my sins … mostly

Do not fear - it only affected my local environment - not the server, so it was only me that could see it. The server also restricts what can be done on it. Additionally to that, with the switch to C++, what I did should not be possible at all.

Local texture changes make it 100 times easier to make aimbots tho.

and xray ^^

and making it rain nyancats.

Exactly yes, to be able to have a block that can be sloped and crafted (and in the case of wood trunks rotated) there actually needs to be internally a different block type representing the 3 ‘versions’ of the block.

We ‘do’ have an example of this with one of the blocks (I can’t remember which) which to the user in the inventory etc appears as a single block type, but when crafted is ‘converted’ into a different type of block type internally to allow for both crafted and sloped versions of it.

I don’t know (ask the designers!) if we’d do this sort of thing for other block types.

I keep wondering where you’re getting all this info. Nice to see that we have people digging in the files, finding out what ordinary players won’t find out until a release. It’s like you’re the insider :scream:

Haha, I wish!
