Extending the IRL comparison, I could in fact contact law enforcement if you decided to hang out on my lawn, especially if it had a gate.
No one is keeping you out of the hub (street). They’re just stopping you from using the portal (door). It leads into somebody else’s space and it’s up to them who is invited to use it.
There’s no reason they should have to hide it from you. It’s the new reality of the boundless universe, there are places you can’t go. I don’t see that this creates an obligation on the renter/manager of a sovereign or creative space to protect you from knowing it exists.
Quite the opposite, in my opinion. If they’ve created a space that they want to be public, it’s on them to make it known.
EDIT:
The same way it knows to make portals to gyosha orange, or portals to other planets pink, purple, blue, etc…
But that’s not visible in the game world, but in a menu.
I don’t tell anyone how to run a hub. I would like the game mechanics be changed - which is something only Wonderstruck can do. My suggestion is what I would like to see changed - but it looks like I’m the only one.
honestly, this is directed towards the large community hubs, whose function is to give access to all the planets of the universe without limits to those people who cannot maintain portals, if you keep within your hub portals which only a few can access I believe that everything you have worked for collapses, if you have a sovereign planet and you do not want visits, the portal should be put in your city or union and not in a community hub, but in the end it will stop being so visited
I personally don’t see the difference between a personal portal at your public world personal base/plots as opposed to a portal hub. The game doesn’t do anything to define a portal hub versus a assemblage personal portals. With the limited visitors I can certainly see we people would do this. It also doesn’t mean that there are not a lot of players using it that have permissions. It may just be some who do not. Also there is the possibility that they will be opening it up in the future, but just not ready at the moment. I can support @majorvex ‘s suggestion with a Color that identifies the type of access but personally I prefer the devs to move forward with developing more important parts of the game then going down another rabbit hole.
But this does not depend on the developers, it is only logical on the part of the owner of the hub and the owner of the sovereign, for example I have a private t4 sovereign and since I do not want visits for now, I do not have a portal, but if I put I would do it in my personal city and not in a hub and in my hub soon I will put the portal but accessible to others, not to show you that I have something that you do not have
We have paid for our planets and we have the right to do with them what we want. We have portals because we have the right to get back and forth to them as well as give our family and friends access to them as well as keeping the public out if that is what we wish. I am with @Nightstar in that I pay for my house irl, you aren’t going to just walk in my house that I pay for without my permission. Should they let everyone have access to your beacon to go through your stuff as well? Hey, I can see the stuff on your shelf, I should be able to have some of it too! =) See how that snowball rolls? Silly, huh?
Nothing is stopping you from going into the worlds that are open to everyone or getting your own world to do with what you wish but no one is entitled to what we pay for and Boundless is never going to change that.
Some of us may have young family members that play and still want access to the main worlds, but need an area they can build unbothered by others. Why should those players not be allowed the convenience of a portal in a public hub (if allowed)?
Portals being a different color to show permissions would be a nice addition. Anyway, there are hundreds of new planets to explore.
Of course I support it, but if it is for your friends and family, because you put a portal in a community hub, I imagine that you do not want anyone who is not from your family to enter, but then why do not you put the portal in your house or city Instead of in such a visited place, I do not care, each one is free, but it is not logical, in addition to preventing the use of that portal by people who do want visits
As far as forcing a player that is paying for a planet to have to allow every player to visit if they want a portal seems wrong to me. If players can lock a portal in a room I do not have access to then there really is no difference. I can waste more time walking towards a locked away portal than the few seconds it takes to find out I do not have access while standing in front of one.
So you think a player should use two portals, one to connect their private planet to an unused base then a second to go from there to a hub? Makes no sense why a player would spend twice as much Oort.
Not really. Now I have to use plots to build something that will get zero use other than a portal to my planet. And that spot that I build will have a portal to the hub. So I could just build a square and people will still walk thru the portal at the hub and see another portal and find out that they can’t go thru that portal. Same outcome more steps
It is only logical if you do not want visits, doing that you will gain a footprint, instead this way no, even so that each one does what they want, I only give my opinion, luckily I do not own any of those hubs
If you forgive the translation, if I cross a portal that is in a community hub and it gives me access to another that does not, I do not see it as bad, as having a community hub with portals with prohibited access
Sad to say it, but if you see something that someone else has and you feel that the simple act of leaving it within view is “sticking it to you”… then that’s entirely in your head.
