I was just saving another ui intereface

Could just have power be ā€œPer Beaconā€ if you use an Advanced Spark Generator of some sort. I do like spark links though…

Not chiseled, full block removed. In this picture you also see the floor below it, hehe.

Not sure if someone mentioned it or not but maybe wireless charging? Spark generator can wireless send power to a machine with a receiver attached to it. just a random thought

If we had solar generators as a form to create spark and store it in a spark core, then it would be possible to create a power grid for a city.

Right now, the only way to do that is design the underground power grid into districts and sub-districts where you have mini-substations that deliver power. It means you’re going to do a lot more running around to fuel it all but it’s definitely possible.

Lol if that explodes Trung is history! So much power!

Just curious, but… Why do you need so many machines anyway? If it’s purely aesthetic or building what looks like a factory, then it shouldn’t be a problem to just build two power centers.

If it’s for actual super-mass-production of goods, maybe we’re not thinking outside the box enough.
Instead of expanding the limit on spark links, or finding different ways to power so many machines, maybe we could consider introducing new larger machines, with the ability to produce larger quantities of goods?

That way you wouldn’t have to increase spark limit at all. And if you’re actually using this many machines, it would reduce the amount of running between each one to just have one larger machine, right?

Could craft the parts with more skill levels in machine crafting, or possibly just placing the machine blocks in new formations…

Also, with different layouts for your coils, and less spacing between machines, you could save on spark link usage.

Did that in the past, not a fan of it. Plus the centraforges need 7200 power, ie. 24 coils, putting them closer together makes repairing them less easy and it’s already a rather unfun task anyway. Different layouts also make it less efficient to repair.

And yes, I do need all these machines, there is a reason I added more in the past few days

It’s divided in 4 areas, food & brew section, brick/deco/wood/stones section, forging section and generic crafting section.

Since I also like stuff done quickly I use multiple machines at the same time, instead of queueing up 10 recipes that are exactly the same I rather do 2 on 5 machines…

As is my workshop, which is why I run four mega-generators instead of just one. This is but a minor inconvenience to me.

I can understand and respect your desire to keep everything centralized, however.

I think there could be a lot more uses for Spark in this game.

  • Power stations and grids
  • Portable batteries
  • Fuel cells for energy weapons
  • Spark powered decorative building items (doors, lights, moving blocks, etc.)
  • Short range teleportors

Definitely more left to be desired with it.

So is spark limited to 100 links in the chain regardless of which direction they go? Or is it 100 spark links per spark generator…? Could you have a spark chain attached to the left for 100 links and a spark chain attached to the right for 100 links to get 200…?

Could you then attach to the top, bottom and back for 500 non-sequential links?

It’s max of 100 links but you can add them to as many spark gen faces as you can.

So even with 1 spark gen you can have 1 line go up, 1 down, etc.

Essentially as long as the links themselves don’t connect to each other, you can have 100 per facing. Since you can connect multiple generators together to make a huge generator in several different possible configurations, this allows many different 100-long links allowed per generator.

yes I have 400 spark links attached to one core. There are 4 points of contact so each is 100 links long

What about if you could power a building and any machine connected to the building would have spark? Use copper block maybe?

Been playing too much No Man’s Sky I see… Or watching old Tesla coils delivering wireless power videos huh…

I’d be happy with just an attachment that allowed each engine it’s own spark generator. Instead of centralized fuel move towards machine specific fuel. But I know that is a whole redo…

This is not something that I would like. I do not want to have to decide before I fuel a generator what I want to make. If each machine has its own spark generator then I end up running all over trying to keep a bunch of generators fueled in case I need them. With the current set up I can fuel the generators before I need them and know that I can use the spark for any of the machines that are connected. Personally I do not have a problem with the 100 cord limit. I managed to get 50 machines hooked up to one spark core.

Clearly you didn’t read the OP, if that were a good solution I would already have used more than 1 spark gen set up, I clearly want to use just one…

Oh I read the OP more than a few times. I was responding to someone within the thread… you might noticed the quote I used to help you find the relevance to that conversation.

For the record I am not opposed to 1 core generator. It is easier in many ways. The 100 limit was for a reason and I am the type of person that tried to respect and understand the reasons Developers make decisions. I don’t like it either but they are not at a point where they wanted to change it after it was brought up in EA like 3 times. So instead of calling them ā€œsillyā€ I decided on a different approach.

The suggestions of adding individual power was to help those that refuse to have anything but 1 centralized solution. It gave options to the developers and was not an ā€œeither/orā€ comment. I don’t see why we can’t have more than 1 way to fuel machines. It certainly can help in a variety of issues especially if the developers don’t want to expand the cord length past 100.
