Seed planting speed is a common complaint on the forum and may be written off as us just wanting everything to be faster and more plentiful. So I have a specific speed in mind that would be abundantly more convenient.
Make it the same as creeping speed, or slightly faster.
When I harvest, I use a wooden axe and have full dexterity and axe mastery (forget if I have the epic), and I creep the whole time. The rate at which I swing the axe is so close to the creep speed that I never need to break stride. But then when I do my pass of planting while creeping I can only go 4 meters or so before skipping a space.
Creep speed is always the same no matter what your agility is. If planting speed was faster than that it wouldn’t hurt, but so long as the speeds are at least equal it would make the whole process so much smoother.
The difference in planting speed to get it up to this convenient rate would be a matter of milliseconds so I think this is a very reasonable request.
While any speed increase is appreciated (and adjusting to crawlspeed is minor enough but also adds great convenience), I feel like it’s nowhere near enough to not make it frustrating.
My alternative suggestion would be to give crop sower additional effects if not make a new farming mastery tile entirely, +Action Speed per level for farming tools (tiller, seeds, and fertilizer, possibly even liquids)
You sure that you dont have a block placement delay enabled?
I found that just holding W with creep set to toggle gets me roughly the same planting speed with max placement. But my farmer also has zero points into walking speed.
Its not 1:1 but its pretty close in that a long row of like 200 only needs me to go back and fix 1 or 2 spots i missed if i just hold W and creep across the field.
There was a aoe tiller according to some old forum posts but it looks like it didnt work and instead of fixing it they just removed the boon
Honestly we need forging to make fertilizer not pointless, decreasing the amount of time it takes me to grow something is hardly a reason to want to use it.
Now if fertilizer was aoe with a seed & crop yield boon then i would probably use it.
Yea I hold the plant button down the whole time. Don’t know what else I could do differently.
I know there are more ways to improve it but bumping up the speed .1 second is a matter of changing one number on the back end as opposed to developing something new.
Personally, I’d rather they make tiller not need AoE (or even forging) in the first place by actually giving it decent stats (or even adding gem tier tillers), but honestly tiller is the part of farming with least issue for me.
Agreed with fertilizer being pointless and that as it is there’s not much reason to use it. Seed & crop yield sounds great (and honestly I expected that the first time i saw fertilizer), but considering how hard they’re trying to push down seed & crop yield (especially for exo only plants), I feel like this wouldn’t happen.
My proposed solution for fertilizer would be to remove growth time RNG entirely on top of making plants grow faster. If it says ETA is 2 days, then it’ll grow in 2 days, no more no less. And remove that chance to lose the fertilized status, too, no one is realistically gonna daily maintenance farms with fertilizers.
