Iron fists are definitely slower than before. I would fire, wait and then click to fire again…nothing…click again and then it would fire again.
I am digging with fists and yes, the game now feels clunky and slugish compared to before the patch.
For the reference, i dug out 200k blocks before patch and i think i know what i am talking about.
The Damage from grapple skill is still not working.
The Gold fist is doing less Damage then the iron fist.
Whatever is in the patch notes, is not in reality.
Why? Seems like a waste.
Yeah, I can verify it is increasing damage. I deal about 400 more damage now with 4 points in Grapple Mastery.
I just compared before and after adding a point into grapple mastery and it didn’t show an increased damage when looking at the fist stats. So unless it increases damage but doesn’t show it on the tooltip then it’s still not fixed.
shrug I was hitting 3100-something non-crit last night with an Explorer’s Fist and without Grapple Mastery. After testing the speed increase (and decrease), I was curious about Grapple Mastery and put points into it: my normal hits are now 3400-something (about a 400 point difference with rounding).
So I just tested the iron fist and the gold fist, and I realized my mistake. The gold fists I’m using to hunt had an action speed boon which didn’t affect the fists before the patch, but now they do (along with dexterity)
However using a base iron and gold fist with 8/8 dexterity and 5/5 attribute bonus they do seem a little more sluggish than before. I’ll have to try a base gold one in the field and see how much of a difference it seems to make.
I think tying the speed to action speed instead of the unavoidable 1.5s cooldown they had before is a positive thing, since they can now be boosted by things like boons and speed brews, but the base speed does seem like it could use a boost.
Well the iron fists “pre” patch were perfect for everything, faster than an iron shovel AND in tier 4 - 6 they can one shot dirt and gravel, they are great for harvesting plants. And deadly to use with a power/control build. Only a titanium slingshot could do an even work ln it but the price in a titanium sling vs an iron fist is astronomical… anyways the thing is now broken, sluggish as hell and you cant go to tier 4-6 planets like this anymore…
not broken. They Quality of life patched it. You know they fixed a bug not nerfed it.
So whats the verdict here? Dex helps with the reload lag? What about grapple mastery?
Dexterity helps, as do action speed boon and fast brews. Grapple mastery doesn’t seem to affect it.
However, even with max dexterity it does seem sluggish on the base fists, and they could probably use a speed increase.
It does affect it, but I guess I need to waste cleanse points and make some screen shots because you are dismissing what I posted as false.
this time he was talking about the reload time of the fists, and of course this is not effected, thats what the tool-tip is stating too: grapple mastery affects only the damage of the fists
Eh, that was not exactly clear. Regardless, here are some screen shots:
This is normal damage against a Boori Cuttletrunk without Grapple Master.
This is normal damage against an identical Cuttletrunk with three points in Grapple Mastery.
I’m not dismissing what you’re saying, what I’m saying is that it doesn’t show the bonus damage when you look at the stats for the fist in your inventory.
I didn’t mean to come off as dismissive, I really do want it to work.
edit: and what I meant by that comment you quoted was that grapple mastery doesn’t seem to affect the action speed, not the damage. Sorry for the confusion.
thank you for the confirmation on this, ive been looking for a confirm for my hunter for a while now <3
Hey everyone, just to give you a bit more detail from the dev side. The fists are supposed to be a relatively fast firing weapon with a long “reload” cooldown period. This reload function is quite different from the tools and slingbow action speed, and we had to kind of “hack” it into the game to get it in time for launch. This meant it missed out from bonuses to action speed from buffs/skills etc. So in this update we changed the way the “reload” was taken into the action time, meaning fists could be effected by speed buffs.
While it meant some data changes, we made sure the DPS would remain the same for base fists, since we are happy where fists sit right now in terms of balance for early-mid players.
Yeah i definitely works I crit with gold one for 6416, and normal hit does 3666!
To say it in one cheat code: “Power Overwhelming”
A few things to clarify because there is alot of confusion and speculation. Note that I only tested the Gold fist.
- Grapple mastery does work now as I respecced.
- Fast brew does not have an impact as was claimed earlier. I tested that too. Specifically the 80% super fast brew. @rossstephens- Does your claim of speed buffs apply to brews as well?
I have not tested dexterity and would like to hear others chime in on this. I’m skeptical
Dexterity does work. The differences between zero Dexterity and max Dexterity are night and day. With max Dexterity I am attacking faster with the Fist than I did before the patch.
