State of the Forum Moderation

It could just be in the hands of God, and there are some valuable lessons for some of us tied up into this mess, that would explain it all, and why you would want confusion…

There is a small list of topics you are allowed to participate in on the forums:

  1. Events you have going on, like hunts or special events
  2. Screenshots of your build
  3. Basic outline of what you did in game on a given day, as long as you didn’t run into any problems. Don’t discuss any problems you had, because people will get the post nuked.
  4. You can discuss off topic things like what music you listen to while playing the game.
  5. You can necro the necro thread. Don’t take this to mean you can necro other threads. That will make people upset, and the threads will get nuked.
  6. You can express your utter devotion to the game.

Pretty much any other topic will get attacked by passive aggressive people, who will get the thread shut down. Most topics are completely off limits, because passive aggressive people have decided they are, and those people know how to work the system to get their way. There really isn’t any point in protesting these rules, because that will get shut down.

There are people playing this game from all over the world, and culture is not universal. People who are not from North America are at a disadvantage in this forum because they may follow different rules of acceptable discourse. Just restrict your posts to the above listed items, and you should be okay. If you have other things you want to talk about, you are out of luck. It isn’t allowed. Maybe try DMs.

Yeah DM’s and discord for actual discourse, I guess maybe they want a shiny forum for reasons that are beyond me. Its very interesting though.

I have to be careful, as that’s one of the reasons I was temp banned.

LOL/ Sorry, but ‘for reasons that are beyond me’. It is not unreasonable for a game dev to want the ‘official forums’ to on some leve, conscious or unconsciously, to be an advertizement of the game, to be represenative of the game. They pay for it, they host it, it has their name all over it.
And on some level they’re obliged to keep it…civil and safe.
There are less pubic communcation methods to express less civil critques. People just don’t like it because they prefer the social media aspect…

You wouldn’t happen to be trying to get this thread shut down, would you? I mean, its totally not in the list of approved topics, so putting words in people’s mouths and insulting them by implication is an accident, right? Not passive aggressive at all.

its not free speech when just because you disagree with some one your post get taking down like how this is might be . I think players need to stop acting like things are ok and then shooting down those who are right on what happened to game it is facts no anything against tos . The truth hurts being emotional about it and flagging post wont help .

Free speech is pretty simple really, meaning you can talk freely about whatever you want. Forums though do have rules, not just these forums, but most forums do.

You can talk freely within those rules.

Haha, yeah any child can clearly see this, but I feel boundless is not just a game for children, and in the early days, open debate on the forum really shaped and grew the game. The reasoning that is beyond me is to shut this down when there is clearly still development to be done. In my oppinion this is because multiple people have been programming updates and integrating different systems to make the game God friendly and able to be popular and Useful for everyone involved. The reason this is beyond me is because for some reason this is all done in secret, even though im one of the people that has done some of the programming, but maybe thats MAD? lol x

I think being called a child and passive aggressive is about all the fun I want to have…
Stay Boundless all!

I can understand the frustration. Hence the reason why I don’t comment, post, or contribute on the forums often. I’ve been flagged for asking someone if they received help on a support topic that had little activity.

For the current state of the game: I’ve spoken up and felt ignored as a customer and took my business elsewhere as a result of the Oort Elf :frowning:

There was a lot of flagging abuse in the past no doubt. I can only speak for myself as a moderator here, but I don’t remove anything that’s flagged unless it breaks the rules.

Everything thing flagged goes to the moderators and they make the determination if it breaks TOS, and if it does … off it goes.

I don’t give my opinion on this is very much. I’ve been burned by the higher ups a few too many times.
I love the game, but I can’t give it the kind of attention like I used to.

When I first started, I was playing 4-8 hours a day, 20 to 30 hours a week. Now? it’s maybe 4 hours a week.

I honestly think this topic should be closed, it only creates hostility and not positivity. Until the transfer completes and there’s a dev team, there’s no point discussing this with 75% of the community upset with how long it’s taking and no updates.

Everyone should just play or don’t play the game and stop bringing up troll topics, because that’s what they are. We all pretty much know everyone and new users are just old players trolling.

I love to play the game, but I also like to be able to vent my frustrations, perhaps this is unhealthy for some, but for me if I let them fester I have more issues…

My comments do not pertain to RedLotus as I haven’t been on here in a long time.

But historically, the moderation on this forum has been awful from the beginning. The only decent one was MajorVex or whatever her name was, and even she was too quick to lock discussions down. I would take her though in a heartbeat over the ones before her.

Whether in game violations, or abusing forum members who find fault with the game, there has always had a hierarchy, and if you are considered important, you can generally do as you please

I don’t feel like the forum moderation is as draconian as it feel’s, and the systems they have in place are needed, if we didn’t have them the forum would be 10X more toxic and confusing for everyone.

But yes, it depends how much time the moderators are able to put in as to weather it works or not, and we seem to be in Interesting Times, so its bound to be confusing, and I assume, get more so.
