Testing 218: Exoworlds, Blink, Rift and Umbris!

Like AOE 3x3 T6 hammers with DMG 9 some selling for 50k, gems for around 300-500c each, shimmering orbs around 200c.

I had a shower epiphany. (Because that’s where the ideas happen)

Correct me if I’m wrong here, but for every task, regardless of player level the xp gained is always the same.

Why is that?

I do believe the player should gain xp from every task as a reward (even if it’s only a fraction).
However, I also believe a lvl 1 and a lvl 50 player should not make the same xp for the same task.

These simple tasks that are easily farmable, and, yes, exploitable by high lvl players are like the xp life and blood for lowbies.

So, again, I ask, why is it the same? Is it too complicated of a mechanic to implement at this time?
Would it be possible to create a xp-gained level tier system? Changing what xp is gained each time a player levels, or even changing every 5 levels.

The rock 0xp change doesn’t greatly effect me personally, but I remember how important it was as a lowbie.
(Also, the torch? Who goes and makes thousands of torches anyway? Why zero that one out?)

IMO it’s a much simpler and more straight-forward system to make the xp needed to reach the next level scale up as you get higher level rather than having the XP itself scale and it has the same effect.

That is a great idea, use an exponential decay formula for experience amounts!

And sorry but anyone who makes deco oort, need to be trapped in a endless portal loop.

It’s still kicking lowbies in the knees though. That’s what’s getting me.

Notice no one mentioned any nay-say about the other xp drops. (Vital essance, beams, poles)
It’s the 0xp that’s the issue.

I’m bothered by all the reductions in xp gain. Never thought they should be dropped. For me though stones impact me the most since I sit and queue 50 bench’s at a time and take 20-30 mins of click…click…click…I have a brick shop. Need to make alot of stones.

Maybe they’ll make them Insta craft, like others have asked, so at least getting to the other stuff will be quicker.
Hey, soft coal went up, that’s pretty commonly used. (And gleam lanterns! Now if only I could get enough glowing lamella…)

Maybe even if they go through with this, they can add in a under-lvl20-xp-boost buff, so those lowbies still gain xp from things high levels dont.

Nerfing the mining is stupid there are legit players that actually mine for xp and not just eat xp food how do you expect to even earn plots not everybody can buy cubbits and also it’s a waste to turn orrit it blocks and not use it for to fuel the portals smh.

Yea a few flashy new blocks, new tools and slings with flexibility in the 30s ( fun forging) and new creatures that hit like a meteor landing on your head.

I got a good amount of my lvls from mining and will still say aoe should probably be looked at.

Oh !!! :fearful: guess i will throw away the idea of making deco oort … :pensive:

Umbris Grapple is not available in the Give Item Dev Menu.

wait so its going to cost more coin to go there??

D:

so you’re gating the best content to the rich? :frowning:
I barely have more than 8000 coin at any time…
and that’s collectively, across 7 alts.
guess i’ll have to find someone rich enough to go with =\

oh cool. makes sense.
Thanks for the explanation. I was wondering why it was changed :slight_smile:

haha k that’s totally fair.
and a really good idea… wouldn’t want people prestiging it up with water or lava :scream:

oh wow.
really?
wow.
1xp sure, but 0?
wow.
guess i’ll just give up on my current build as theres no freaking way I’ll be able to get enough plots now.

more disappoint =\

ah some good news

didn’t say anything about using them in portals…

it absolutely does not in some cases. I am one of the players that would never spend a dime on cubits… but I backed the game with a significant amount of money and have bought a second account. I only need plots. plots plots plots. thats why i dont even have any headgear or body paint. all i want is plots. but I would never spend a dime on them. no matter if I used the exploit or not. so it is completely irrelevant in my case.
actually it’s all irrelevant because…
I never thought I would say this, but…
I think it’s time to go back to minecraft.

What I never understood is why rock gave exp and wood didn’t. They both should have been at 0 and instant from the start and this wouldn’t even be an issue. Course no one complained that the wood not giving xp was a bad thing.

I’m playing on Mac, can’t seem to get past the Client is Out of Date message. I’ve restarted steam, swapped back and forth from the beta and live version, and even uninstalled an reinstalled.

I have also verified the files to no avail.

I want to test!!! HALP

They should match the “toughness” of the gems. Diamonds are very easy to get and are 200. Sapphire very easy to get 197. If making the exo world gems 39 shouldn’t the very easy gems be less than the hard to get? Emerald amethyst are harder to get but emerald is 200 also

Or can we stack the new gems with diamond or emerald and have 200 effectiveness?

Good discussion so far. Here’s some relevant stats about the rock XP trick that may help you think about the issue from a new angle.

Crafting XP is calculated based on output.

rock->stone gives 2xp per stone
stone->refined gives 4xp per refined

Makes sense, right? Wait a minute. Look at their recipes:
18 rock -> 50 stone, 100 xp
288 stone -> 50 refined, 200 xp

And if we standardize to rock, since rocks make stone:
18 rock -> … 100 xp
103.68 rock -> … 200 xp

Whoa! For the first part of the recipe I was getting 5.56 xp/rock! And for the second part only 1.93 xp/rock? The rock->stone process is 3x better than stone->refined.

The nature of the block recipes means the earliest part of the crafting tree contains the majority of the xp.

How many rocks do I need to level up and get cubits/plots?

tl;dr: Remember leet-speak? You need 13370 rocks.

Longer answer: You need 13,361 rocks for a max char level up (200k xp). And you’ll need to eat a teaching pie.

What about everyone before lvl 50? On average their levels require 66k xp. So they only need 4,416 rocks.

One level up on a max char is worth three level ups below lvl 50. But you only get two times the rewards. That’s why alts are so good. You get 6 skill points to spend for the same resources it takes to get 4 skill points at end game.

Rock’s abundance makes it the most effective way to transfer XP from char to char.

I mean if you know of a more efficient way then by all means do tell… for science…
