Testing 218: Exoworlds, Blink, Rift and Umbris!

Are there only exp nerfs?
No exp increase somewhere else to balance?

Very disappointing.

I was half asleep when reading the patch notes earlier. Now that I’m a bit more awake and have had time to think about what I read. I’m a little taken back by the rest of the nerfs in xp and the nerfs to the gem tools in the forge.
Anyway, the more I think about it, the more I’m starting to agree with whomever said it above and I’m hoping that all this is the lead up to some sort of cruel April Fools joke! But, how often is an update released on a Monday?

I can live with the 0xp on stone if it’s brought into line with timber’s instant crafting, but the rest of the nerfs sound a little mad, to say the least lol. Especially the forge stuff. Like, weren’t the effectiveness levels raised not long ago? Or am I mistaken on that?

Excellent!!! I look forward to seeing what becomes of the exoplanet toward the end of their life(errrr cycle?)
A mined out husk or a barely touched and formidably dangerous world?
Will the increased atmospheric danger put those food items on the map?
Edit: As it is one doesn’t need Max points in atmospheric protection, so if what I read means what I think, one may need to “buff” their atmos protection toward the end of an exos life(cycle)

The forge change is net zero. We’ve shifted the scale to make room for the special items. Forging of gem, metal, stone, wood gear should be approximately the same.

I’m not liking this change

It’s nice my raw rock has suddenly all sold out…

Am I doing something wrong or why are totems now 88% harder to forge, and gem tools went down a notch too?

edit:
Also how am I supposed to level my testing character now that stone gives no xp? Any other high xp crafting stuff that can be spammed?

edit2:
The stone xp change is going to make leveling some “classes” really hard, like stealth gatherer. Most other jobs give 10x the xp in the same amount of time.

There’s an 'Experience Loaf" that you can spawn yourself to level up. You’ll only need 1 or 2 at a time because the give thousands of XP. I can’t remember exactly how much but it’s a LOT! lol.

The effectiveness of your totem on the testing server is ‘used’ and almost worn out. Tools lose effectiveness based on wear.

Sadly that’s not the case. Thank you for the loaf tip! It’s called “cheat skill loaf” for anyone interested.

I really do hope they will look at revising the rock exp nurf. Exploit or not its by far the most efficient way to grind plots, and it gives people with millions of coins with everything else something to spend it all on.

Definitely wont be playing as much if i’m unable to grind the amount of plots i’l need for my project in a reasonable amount of time.

Oh wow. My bad then. I put a partially worn titanium axe in the forge on Live earlier just to see, and the effectiveness had taken a big drop. I presumed it was because it was worn.

And double doh! because I also got the name of the loaf wrong lol. Today is not my day!

They seem to have taken a ‘significant’ hit if the images above are anything to go by lol.

Had a quick go on the testing servers last night, it was late so wasn’t able to spend long there. Jumped to a T7 Potent world, 2k coin to jump there kinda put me off a bit. I spec’d my character the same as my main hunter and although the creatures do hit hard he could mange it, although Im going to have to try find some way of freeing up some skill points to put into jump distance

Didn’t find any of the new gems while there but again I didn’t have a lot of time to search, will hopefully get another chance this evening.

One thing I thought was a bit comical was watching the exo planet in the sky, would honestly say this needs a little work, When I picture rogue planets twinkly tennis ■■■■■ darting around with no logic to their movement don’t generally come to mind.

Can you explain it like im five? I could just be showing my ignorance, but no idea what net zero/net neutral actually means when it comes to changes in forging effectiveness.

It’s an interesting take on things that I hadn’t really considered. However, while this is technically true, I’d argue that taking this approach is looking at a tiny part of the process, and doesn’t properly represent the benefits of converting rock through to refined.

18     rock => 50 stone                   = 100xp =  5.5xp per rock
103.68 rock => 50 refined (576xp + 200xp) = 776xp = 7.48xp per rock

It is true that the process of converting stone-to-refined returns less XP per rock than rock-to-stone. However, if the goal is purely xp gain, converting to refined is an entirely free (barring machine wear) and time-efficient (in terms of user input required) process that can be run in addition to and alongside rock-to-stone.

Additionally, you’re considering only the xp gain of additional refinement when making this comparison. If you’re making refined rock, you’re also adding to the rocks ‘potential xp’, in that refined rock gives more placement and chiseling xp per-action. You’re also increasing the prestige capacity of that block.

Some people did.

Hehe! I doubt anyone will be sharing their efficient methods now. As I recall, this only got popular because a player got a bug up their butt about their own personal preferred cheese being nerfed and plastered it all over the forum.

Like any MMO, players are going to learn that sharing isn’t caring.

Blink, umbris, rift oortstone refined, compact and deco blocks

the blink on the left is very, very blinky.
the other 2 have nice particle effects.

For me, I can see most potential with the refined (for builds)

deco oortstone has a lovely finish!
