Take responsibility for what you said and it being completely incorrect. This is what you said:
You do not have the architecture diagram or an understanding of their costs. Please stop using that as a reason that you are right and know that removing regen farming will ruin the game and make all the players leave.
I won’t decide who is banned or not, but you bring up a whole host of good areas that need a lot of work and rebalancing to bring the game back into the game play what was originally intended. All of these are basically exploiting systems that the devs are too busy to fix or haven’t had time to.
Running 50 worlds over running 1 server. This implies to me running 50 servers lol. How would you word that? Again you seem to think I am your and the dev teams enemy, I am not. If i did not enjoy the game i would both not play and not give feedback. I hope to give feedback and help the team avoid the pitfalls I have seen other games fall into. The game is especially vulnerable at its current low player count. By the time you have completely changed the game to “originally intended” there will be few players left to play it, you can not go back only forward.
edit: just took a fresh look at the steam charts and I honestly have no idea how they are keeping the game running with a 200 player peak count.
good in mind that is only PC players so i normaly double it for PS so i would say we are runing at maybe 400-500 people but still i have a feeling alot has to do with the “pre-order” backer cash in that depot
I guess for me I just don’t see the reason to bring all of this into the discussion since it is all subjective. We don’t have a clue whether this game with survive or not. Also I don’t see you as an enemy. I just would like us to discuss things we do know 100% and can influence versus things that are out of our control.
We just have different views on what is good and bad for the game… I do respect your views and agree this is an area that needs thought. I am just someone that is willing to let the devs make calls and succeed or fail … it is their responsibility as I see it.
These are not 100% fine… Our Devs and @james haven’t taken the time to look at whether this breaks the game terms or not in their views.
I think if most people knew the level of hacking of the game that has happened and how only a select few have that information and not the whole community they probably wouldn’t be happy especially with those that took advantage of those systems for their own gain.
I agree but it never hurts to put feedback out there. Sadly we can never know anything 100% and I only hope to provide my personal feedback on both farming and the balance of farming. End of the day the devs can easily ignore everything and do what they want =). I would greatly like to see Boundless make a come back and have lots and lots of players.
It does not appear to be double for PS4 players. If you check Boundless Ninja most time the difference between the two is less than 50% so the ps4 players seem to hover around 50% of the PC players currently. Maybe at launch it was different but over the past few months when I checked this is what I found.
Not relevant but I would agree we need to pick our battles… In the future, though, maybe we take the time to bring it back up? . Just right now they don’t have the time to revisit the decision to be on that hardware and service.
Multiplayer really makes mods impossible from a balance stand point as you can just make a mod to give yourself an advantage. I have long wondered if people have x-ray mods from some of the mining patterns I have seen. I would honestly kill for the ability to play offline just incase the game ever goes under I can still enjoy it.
going back to main point i just really think alot of this could have been avoided if the devs did a more phase out system rather then a scorched-earth policy
i get its tricky in terms of balance if you leave both up it will cause a huge Surplus of food but this may be the case of the long term effect outweighing the short term harm
once the patch hits live we got no idea what the timegate is going to look like it could be 30 min for yams or 30HR’s but cuz of scorched-earth we wont have a fall back method to get them…the ratios could be 1 seed for evey 20 plants but again we will just have to “deal with it” untill it gets fixed
Game was quite different before forge, because of changes we “need” these shimmering orbs much. I blame for bad surface drops of shimmering orbs of whole rise of regen farms
World regeneration that we had after launch was big reason why we start to play with block hitters and now we are used to that system.
I don’t know/remember when gem tool recipes did change, maybe when we got all foods and surface items. But I think it did include this level of glue system that we have now.
It is not secret that I am not happy at all how surface (object) gathering has been because of how it is not comparable of 100 blocks of rocks beneath that has higher chance of ores, gems, coals etc… and how it same times includes higher risk of all kind of one hitter mobs with aim bots and nearby spawning rules.
Just while ago we got finally buff to XP on surface gathering and now current test version is removing, not even replacing things of certain plants.
I feel like I am repeating myself of some these things that lead to us this lazy gathering way, sorry about that
Come on… this isn’t what I said. Don’t twist stuff up like this. We’re working hard to try and make a great update for everyone - and this is just putting the boot in.
We obviously want feedback about the balance. It’s super helpful.
The point I was failing to make is that many many comments were hung up on the seed yield rate. And I’d tried to respond saying that the balance was a first pass and we wanted to improve it. But the same comments kept coming. So I tried to say - ok ok - we get it - but how about comments about the systems? Because changing the balance is pretty quick. We’re on it. But changing the systems takes time. Any feedback about the systems?
So please - let us not spread a false message that feedback about balance is not allow or not wanted.
Aren’t we all on the same team here? Trying to make a great game that we all enjoy playing?
Anyway…
Whilst it might not all be in the next Testing update, the plan is to try and find a balance between crop-farming, regen-alt-drop-farming, and gathering for resources.
Thank you for a compromise in this. Aside from the seed yield rate, what specifics on the systems would you most like feedback on? Any examples we can directly investigate that you would point out?
Maybe balance based on effort/skill? Anyone who goes out into the wilderness and fends off Cuttletrunks, or maintains a spectacular farm and replenishes it regularly, should have output far higher than people who stand in one spot and toss a regen bomb.
