Testing 241: Beacon Reclaims!

Sorry, I don’t use it, but I’d imagine Stretchious does.

I’ve not used it before either, sorry

Can report @lucadeltodecso has fixed the Forge issue and it will be included in the next Testing update.

Coin was difficult for me too but I was so far off from being able to afford to buy anything that I didn’t really worry about it too much. Back then I still needed things in small quantities and I tried to do it all myself which I enjoyed but cubits, oh boy, I wanted more plots, more chars, more skill reset tokens, etc., etc. I never had enough of them!

But everyone is different!

Times are different now too. No longer need the reset tokens till after 20.

Yeah true, I spend sooo many cubits on those back then so I could it all myself. I even bought some cubits just so I could buy some reset tokens!!!

I did the same way too often. Also cleanse points

I bet I’ve spent as many cubits on cleanse points as I have on plots, lol

Maybe @james already explained this, but is there going to be more with this?
Are the devs planning to make new ‘ruined’ blocks of everything with a different shader or normal map to make them look broken?
And if you re-plot these ash blocks, is there a plan to allow them to be ‘repaired’ automatically or not?

I’m super curious about this, as I just discovered about it 5 minutes ago. ^^

Personally I like keeping the ash there as the block to use…

I would assume this goes down the path of them supporting blueprints. Since they are building on technology and stuff one release at a time.

I’ve chatted with him a few times about how blueprints could be used - a machine to build it versus manual building. In the future I could see them using this reclaim to understand where the blocks were and their config to help with blueprints. But, blueprints are certainly not on the immediate “to be done” list.

In any case, the reclaim feature is a clear step in the right direction.

Currently the ash block regenerate on the planets normal cycle so there are no lasting ruins. Since the ash blocks exist in the “wild” I would assume they will regenerate in live also. Otherwise you will have issues with the system deciding what to regen and what not to regen. Does the definition of a planet have to be updated to include the ash as now a natural part of the planet? Does it also allow for all the natural blocks that were cleared to flatten an area or otherwise modify the environment to be updated in the definition of the planet? Or does it just treat it like player placed blocks outside of a beacon and regen it? Since the area is not actually regenerating when it is reclaimed, I think this is why there is a substitution of the ash block for the player placed blocks. The when the regen cycle starts the ash is replaced and the areas that were cleared of natural blocks will also be replaced.

Nothing more, “potentially” could have different extra drops, but no plans for that either. It’s just about resolving the item-duplication issue it introduces.

The Ash is not there for any implementation requirements, it’s just because it A: looks cool, B: stops you falling to your death if you were stood in a beacon as it reclaims.

After mining nerf, it’s harvesting wild plot nerf. And what becomes the auto fuel système, no change?
I always pay the same without finally a valid reason other than more percentage plot?

It’s more a case of making sure people aren’t punished for wanting to return to the game and having to start from next to nothing.

Removing dead beacon hunting is a bit sad though. I thought they were doing something to replace that stuff. I know couple player was playing around this. Maybe adding something special in it for someone who find it going to ash shouldn’t hurt.
