Tested with a variety of weapons from wood to lucent and none of them drain stamina. Could swing at air, blocks or creatures and none caused stamina to drain.
Tried swinging a totem, stamina drained as expected.

Yep No stamina drain + no block loot wood , foliage ,rock definitly gone.
Does the sword use the same rules as the bomb? Destruction of the block without loot?
Yea it’s intended not to get loot from blocks when destroying them with weapons. Only time it will drop the blocks is when breaking inside plotted area
