😢 This makes me sad

Are you talking about the tangle farm on Cephonix Merika? It’s accessible from the PS Cephonix Merika gateway via a portal. It’s just set up as a quick farm for anyone to use.

EDIT: If any build of mine (Dhusk and Synovius are my two chars) is ever in the way, I’m 100% happy to work with whomever to move it, change it, whatever. It’s never my intention to prevent someone else from building or to have to alter their build to accommodate something I’ve built

No I am talking about the walled off diamond mine on Malurialakrib…

Synovius is you right?

It’s a public mine. There’s a portal on the PS Mali gateway for it labeled ā€œPS Diamond Forward Campā€. It’s free for anyone to use.

Just want to clarify I’m only jk, it is annoying but I’m not bothered about them really

Okay

It’s nice that it is public and all that and that there is a portal. But what I do not get is why is it walled off? If it’s a public mine why does there need to be a wall on the outer edge at all?

It prevents people like me from entering it while we are already there, heck my beacon is like a handful of plots away which is where I warp to (or portal to when I have the portal open), I then do not want to return to somewhere else to be able to enter that area.

What happens when you take a break from the game? Or quit entirely? The portals run out of fuel and you might have Gleam Club for quite some time, no one can then enter it anymore which makes it a waste and a bit of a nuisance.

Am ok with public mines like this, I just do not see the need for walling them off, in fact I see lots of negatives by doing so…

I put the wall around it of wood to make it so you don’t even have to check your atlas. You just mine in a direction until you smack wood (which takes multiple hammer swings to break) and then you turn around and go back the other direction until you smack wood again.

There’s even unlocked doors in the wall at various places people can walk through.

Lastly, you’re discounting the idea that if I don’t protect the area like this, it leaves it open for someone else to truly wall it off. One of my favorite ways to mine is to wiggle my way into someone’s truly walled off mine and empty it so there’s not even a spec of heat on the atlas. Perhaps the best spot on all of Mali is (attempted to be) completely walled off but they did a @#^!&y job and I know of a couple holes that I can sneak in through. I visit this mine once per week at least and completely empty it.

Regardless, you’ll be happy to know that as soon as this patch goes live (if it ever actually live before I quit the game from boredom), I’ll be reclaiming my entire diamond mine as I want to build something better.

Haven’t come across a door yet tho, haha.

Am sorry just been in a bit of a mood today…

Hah no worries. I understand the sentiment!

Huge areas of walled-off resources is one of my few gripes - yeah, still a lot left, but pretty annoying when I hit them. I have a lot of good mining spots saved… given how many cubits and how much GC I have, been playing with the idea of claiming a whole bunch of single plots scattered in these areas (the ones I haven’t put mines in already). That way, if they ever get walled off… well, I’ll just open a portal to that area in the appropriate TNT building and it will be a new public mine. And I couldn’t be completely surrounded too closely without the rules being broken (I don’t think they could just box me in tightly)…

… The question being, whether by doing this I’d be in violation of the rules myself, since I’d be possibly preventing expansion in a lot of areas. But really, not TOO much different than other farms I see out there, some near one of my own bases. I’d try to keep them far away as possible from existing builds if I do this, while still keeping within a somewhat central part of the hotspots.

Edit: And if I did this and someone really was wanting to make a build (not wall off resources) where I was, I’d happily move.

Just get a group of people as they wont be just yours no one should be able to say anything… then play ignorance if they do ā€œoh I have no idea who that player isā€ :joy:

I see alot of complains about walled off resouces here.
But no one thanks those who have been protecting resource hotspots, or even try to protect them.
What a great community.

This thread is about resource hotspots being plotted so complaints about that are on topic, complimenting people who preserve them would not be :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Seems to me you’re a tad in a negative mood lately? What’s up?

Dat is frustrated about what he perceives to be a lack of action by the devs on plotting of resources. He’s even gone as far to leave the game, a game he has enjoyed for over 1000 hours, a negative review on steam as a result.

Quite frankly, I find publicly plotting resources for ease of use by everyone a nice thing to do and I find sprawling beacons littering the surface of every T5 and 6 (which is what he has done just about everywhere) really annoying and disruptive to everyone’s creative freedom. To each their own.

I’ve been taking over some air-plotted preserves and I’m being encouraged to surround these obvious single plot beacons people use to teleport directly into mining areas.

Simply on the logic of ā€œpeople do it to wall in resources, you should do it to protect themā€.

I honestly feel this is a case of someone trying to solve a problem and causing another one, and I don’t want to turn into the person, six months down the road, who’s in trouble for a pattern of surrounding small beacons.

This is a mess.

It’s a case where I didn’t care too much about this until several of my favorite mining spots started getting walled off, I guess.

When I’ve traversed the surface to find a mining spot and find that it’s fully walled and ceilinged this is no comfort. Sometimes I do scope it out and look for entrances because I’m bored but even if I found a ā€˜door’ I’m not suddenly going to appreciate it.

Creating obstacles is, well, creating obstacles.

I understand that people have a right to do this and on principal I don’t disagree with the mechanics of it. But in practice it’s annoying AF.

I’n terms of ā€˜creative freedom’ there’s not really any difference between the two activities. At least, from my perspective. But I don’t get the logic of ā€˜walling it off to make it public’. If you have one of the large walled mines that have appeared surrounding some of the saved points where I used to mine (like the old Nova Golda mining spots) until the walls appeared, I don’t really consider resources I used to mine freely but are now walled off as having been ā€˜made public’.

W/E though as Dhusk says, to each their own. One thing is for sure and that is that crusading for anything in this game has not really added to my fun.

Thanks for saying it for me, buddy.
Yes - I do acknowledge what I have done is limitting people’s creative on T6 planets. Thats the trade-off consequences I created, for other player’s enjoyments. My deeply appologies.
All my precious hard-working plots are for building, not for doing charity (like right now). But if I didnt do this, then who would? I just cant watch them being walled one by one.
To be honest, I have to do the thing I hate ā€œtrashing planets with empty beaconsā€, in order to protect what matters. I have to be a ā€œbad playerā€ which I never want to be, I have to sacrifice my precious time and efforts to do it. If only you guys here would know that feeling…
So if someone who want to take over those hotspots for BUILDING purposes, please let me know, and the spot will be yours.

@ailes123 if you truly think this is a problem that needs to be addressed why don’t you stop ā€œprotectingā€ the resources. Regain your plots and go use them for something fun. Let the mine problem develop and see if it turns into the problem you think it will be. Private mines have been around since EA, they aren’t anything new. You aren’t saving the whales or a rainforest, just bits of pixels on a screen. There is no real loss if resources become plotted and the developers create a new planet to add more diamonds into the universe. (I’m sure many are salivating at the thought and @james is sighing and shaking his head.)

Now, if you are doing this out of some desire to sacrifice your hard spent time for the good of the community, I would suggest farming bitter beans. All of them. Ice is cold and slippery and nobody wants to be around it. Sure it looks nice, but when you get moving too fast and having fun you find yourself instagibbed by anything chiseled. (Looking at you Alnitans . ) Ice is also the natural enemy of roadrunners and shouldn’t be trusted.

TL/DR: Remember, nobody cares who’s plots they are under when mining, but bitter beans bring all the boys to the yard. #Facts

One and a half hammers for 56 dumb diamonds Serp is not worth it even if there are a lot of areas not ploted lol.

Edit:

A bit more than half hammer on malu

There are more than anough spots open left, but I will be plotting this one on the sky to keep it safe anyway.
