My perspective: Other than a couple of hours to test the gleambow racing, which was an effort in frustration, in the last couple weeks I haven’t been on to do anything other than check my shops and fuel my portals.
The reason is, mostly, other games that have grabbed my attention.
But, in addition, I thought about playing the other day, booted up the game and…well…it just felt like “old game is old”.
These small updates are fine, but they need a massive, “NMS Next” style content drop.
I may jump in again once farming hits (which I really hope is in the next couple weeks and isn’t going to wait until it’s competing with Mortal Kombat and Days Gone) but my real hope is all these incremental updates are happening in tandem with something major to coincide with a re-launch and media push…Hopefully around E3 or mid-summer.
I know it’s a silly dream, but I’m not sure what else saves it at this point.
Well, clearly devs don’t know what players want most.
Now is almost April, and where is the Titan / dungeon / farming system ?
I am not denying there hard work since Last Dec till now, but clearly those content won’t help this game improving the population issue.
For example guild and event system, those things are necessary i agree, but what if they release the dungeon and Titan first and then they spent their time on those feature ? I mean those system will be more enjoyable when the population is triple of current population correct ?
Also people really not seeking for some ridiculous unique pve system, we just need some farming / dungeon / world boss system like other game have, so we have some goal to do instead of just repeating the weird cycle to grind gems or shards.
Devs they are all nice and helpful i agree, but their plan for Boundless’s future, clearly not most people feel its good enough to stay.
Also for the bad people in this game, they don’t consider it as serious as players. They really need to update their coc and provide with more details to prevent all this thing before it affect some nice players gaming experience.
Boundless is a game require players work with other players, the interaction between people and people is the key idea they create this game. But now, looks like they have trouble to stop the population decrease. I still remembered before i left someone ask me when will be titan released, i told them at least half year. (I think they asked me around Dec.) Now is almost April, so looks like my guessing is kind of accurate. Because i know devs probably think too complicated again.
Boundless is a wonderful core of an unfinished game. It needs a competitive yet cooperative end game on some lower tier planets, perhaps something like Civilization 4 in which culture of one civilization presses against another or different civilizations maneuver to gain access and automatically mine certain key resources while blocking other civilizations.
It also needs more interactive elements so players themselves can build content, even if only on certain planets.
Still, as others have mentioned, people will move on eventually to other games but if the game is interesting they will return now and then or at least stay involved to some degree.
Getting burned out is easy in this game I easily come up with a new project before finishing the last. The only way to get things done is to get everyone in your guild involed. I start something big and realize I can not complete this in a timely manner alone. This is when I reach out in trust that my guildies can help me finish my dreams. This requires like minded people, trustworthy and loyal. Do not bite off more than you can chew.
Take your time. We have plenty of it. Drama will come and go never give up never give in. Stay on course P.U.R.E.
Also if you all are getting board think outside the box. The game was went for the players to create things to do. Look at the GvG event. And other simular events. Do we need new functions in game? Yes. I would love to see the ability to set PVP in a controlled beacon. I wouldnt think it would be hard to do having some self taught game development experience. But until then think of other ways to bring everyone together and having fun.
Definitely not enough hours in the day. People are screaming for more content. Yes it would be nice, but im scrambling to finish the project im on before exoworlds release. Im about 10% done
Being disabled, homebound I have a lot of hours and I can tell you, I am getting bored. It is the repetive tasks, going and mining, same thing, hitting rocks to find iron, gold, sliver, look for gems that I don’t find but am in the right spot to find them but none there; but still the same thing.
The getting the berries from the trees to make the food, same chopping with a axe to get them, the same chapping at the tree for the bark.
Go back to base, the same act of putting the ingredients into the same machine to make the same items I have been making for months.
I want something new, different and not some silly thing that last two weeks, but some actual real new content that is different from others things we do. We need to have new content every six weeks if the devs want to get and keep new players.
This game was rushed and not the devs fault for that, but they need to stop doing the short term things and focus on things like the farming, adding totally and completely different critters to the game, ruins, dungeons to explore and find real loot, not one piece of technology imbedded in the rock.
Actual building that has traps, that has chest, crates that has loot that will respawn after a set time of something different; and consequences for players who want to block it in so others can’t get to it.
We can agree to disagree, but that is how I see it, you play for 6 hours a day (not all at one time) to block out the pain you are feeling and you will get bored after three months of it.
I’m looking for other games to play, I won’t be quitting this game, but I am getting real tired of nothing new, and I have started to do the centraforge, and I see it as the same ole thing, gather what is needed, put it into the machines, wait for it to be finished and more machines to then be put into and then wait for that to be finished. Same ole same ole.
This is a great game, it has so much potential that it is sad to see it being treated as a joke by those who have not played it, or didn’t give it a chance. The free weekend should have been a eye opener to the devs that there are some major changed needed to attract and keep new players.
There were several new players who started the free weekend who are still around. You have to realize that the devs don’t expect everyone to stick with the game…
As for getting bored. I’ve said it before, this game is what YOU make of it. That is the whole point of Boundless. If you’re bored figure out what to do next… the difference between players in this game is some people seek what they can do to make the game great, others wait to let the game make it great for them.
There are those who build in BFE, don’t open portals, don’t want to participate in the economy, and don’t want to chat… Those are the people who also complain about not having coin, who don’t see footfall and scream about how “it’s Unfair…”
Then there are those who create to make a difference in the game. Those who seek out the community and build FOR the community. Those who see how far the game has matured and looks forward to future growth, maybe even planning ahead to get their ideas built before updates. . Those are the people whose Footfall likely supports their guild and makes the game greater for others.
If you sit in the sandbox and build an awesome castle while encouraging others, people will want to play with you… and it can be great! If you just keep complaining and sit frustrated with your bucket and shovel, you’ll probably get bored, no one will want to play with you, and you’ll find yourself on the forum complaining.
My last thought in regards to your comments about your health in RL… you are not alone. Many people who play video games also have disabilities. The cool thing about it, is your physical limitations have zero to do with your Oortian. Don’t use it as a crutch or a reason you can’t or don’t want to love this game… your totem swings the same as any one else’s.
They do not expect everyone but they had 30 new planets ready an used 2 of them, so I think they did not get the increase they expected. And as a result with the typical decline that all games see, there really is not a big boost in actual numbers of players playing at a given time. I do think it would be in the developers interest to find out why the players are not sticking to the game instead of asking those of us still here.
This a nice sentiment, but ultimately if you play you have to mine, gather hunt. No other way to get through the game and after a while it is boring. No other players are going to make it any different. I cannot buy what I have no coin to buy. I have to come up with something to sell in order to buy. That requires mining, gathering and or hunting. I play other games where after a few hours of grinding materials and crafting I can make real progress on my build/factory. In boundless I can spend hours and not really have anything significant to show for it.
And they are leaving the game also, so how does this fit into your view of the game? When players that are active in the community and build areas such as the Forgemasters did and then in a few months they all are not playing the game why is this not a problem? I am sure they were getting footfall so apparently that is not the end all solution to make players happy. They had a market and were selling so that is not the problem. They had portals they were running so that is not the problem. They were the capital of the planet so they were not in BFE so that was not the problem. So why are we loosing these players?
Well over 2k hours here. Haven’t yet joined or started an official guild. Just now laying the foundation to my home. Spent until now creating community enrichment builds and gathering. I am finally ready to build on the scale I desire. In other words, I feel like I am just now really getting started. Here’s my 2 cents fwiw: if you get bored or frustrated on this game, that’s an indictment on you.
Yep, what I figured, lets blame the player, not go, well maybe she/he has a point. If we are losing players, if the devs thought they would get a lot of new players and None of it happened, if the older players who have done all the things you stated you should do to enjoy the game are leaving; well, it is their fault, not the developers.
Getting close to saying F you to this forum, you are all so blind to the fact that if the devs don’t get out of the hole of refusing to see that people who won’t buy the game are doing so because after a while it gets boring, there is not enough content besides doing the same thing over and over and over again, then they will stay with the small number of players which will over time dwindle.
I spent three years playing Sims # and was Never bored, because new content was always being added. New worlds, new towns, new careers, new items to find, it was impossible to be bored in that game. Frustrated with the devs for not fixing the bugs, and yes, seeing it as a money hole in that the prices were high, but that was my choice to spend the money, and I did so because I wanted the new content.
This game is not giving new content, it is not giving players of other games a reason to buy this game when they look at what was promised, what was in it when it was released and what it has not, some cute little two or three week events that were not as enjoyed by all the players. I have two shops, I am making enough coins to give me what I need, I don’t feel I have to have 50, 60, 100 thousands of coins, I am content with having between 10 and 20 thousand coins as it lets me buy want I need and I trade for many of what I need.
Screw it
I think its unfair to say the devs are stuck in this hole of not giving players what they want. They read every post that comes on this forum. They know exactly what players want. The hard part is doing something new and unique. This game won’t succeed simply doing a copy and paste from other games. The vision for them seems to be yes we like that idea, but lets think of ways to fit that into the world of Boundless. Thats why they’re always asking for our input and suggestions. These things also take time.
There’s new things on the horizon that we know about. Probably other things we dont know about yet. Exoworlds and farming that we know of so far. Everyone needs to calm down a bit and maybe wait to see what these will bring first.
Another thing some people, not you specifically Janna, should realize is that “repetitive grind” is just part of boundless. But a good build and aoe makes that grind 1000x better. Anyone that needs help on a mining/gather build at level 50 can feel free to pm me.
I built in BFE on Biitula… now am on the planet’s top 5 list. BFE as you call it is only that way until you Build it into something more, something BOUNDLESS
i think people are just getting frustrated by the fact we are 6 months into launch and only just now getting our first real “content drop” coming up. i think moveing out of early access when they did really hurt the game people look at early access games alot differently then they do full release and in turn have different expectations on when things need to happen.
the funny part tho that AOE hammer that makes the grind better is a huge grind in its self to do
Would much rather have the DEVS working on THEIR schedule releasing quality content versus rushing stuff into the game like so many other games that ended up failing did!
OMG. Everyone knows that more content is needed, including the devs. People keep suggesting that they need to add more content as if the devs are completely unaware of it. EVERYONE KNOWS. But constantly whining and crying for more doesn’t make it happen faster. They are trying and it will be ready when it’s ready.
It’s great that the Sims was able to pump out content fast enough for your liking, but that is a company with mega amounts of money and employees. It’s not really fair to compare this team to that one.
