TMMK’s DK mall hub and roads are expiring in 2 weeks

what city was that?

It was what used to be the capital city. Now that it’s gone, the Raxxian Santuary is the new capital. It was a beautiful city.

I remember at one point before reclaim, when I went through the city and there was several places where the beacons had expired. I replotted them and claimed all the contents. @Bruno78 and I used to rove around and base loot expired builds.

At the end I think it was actually named “blood city” or something like that for a while.

It was 30m prestige, maybe 45 at it’s peak. By the time HOST added a courtyard and a couple of towers to the sanctuary, he took capitol. When he was no longer viceroy on other player’s work, I think that player released most of the city, but I’m not sure I don’t go over there any more.

EDIT: yes I missed hosts reply lol.

Horizon city at the end. There was blood in the name of the guild, and at one point in the name of the city.

Originally Lizsy’s Siedlung.

So, I missed seeing this when it was first posted - both malls are definitely closing?

This is still partially being decided I believe. For me I can manage the portals, but I have dedicated about 4500 of my plots to my color storage and concrete shop. I have also started on another shop that will take up about 1200 plots so all my plots will be put on my sovereign so I cannot take over the nearly 12k-15k+ plots that are currently the new and old DK Mall.

Most of this will rely on @Tmmk and @DKPuncherello and how and what they plan to do, but from initial conversations it appears that a reclaim is in the near future.

Oh I remember Bloodline Horizon? Something like that, I used to try and put footfall on all the places that connected to Tigg’s Tunnels when I went on a refuel run and remember seeing it.

The old mall is going to have shops in the air like most city/mall ruins and I’m looking forward to watching that splash of lights decay into a fun wierd place to grapple explore. The new mall I’m hoping stays open, I’m going to keep working on it as I can. If the new mall plots have to be transferred from Timmk, I’ve got 10k unused plots and my base on Houchus has enough area plotted already so I have enough for the New mall hub and roads. I love exploring all the shops in the new mall and trying out stuff in my own builds.

Yes the name got changed a few times over the years, but that’s the place.

It was a tremendous supply of drama, starting from week after release and lasting until a particular player had pretty much driven everyone away from it and, with the help of others, also captured most of their plots. Prestige warring, infighting, lots of spill-over drama.

Luckily for me by the time the giant car moved, plot protection was on and I was left alone.

Anyways I deleted the rest of a rant, It’s unimportant at this time. What’s actually important is to remember that many of the things that a new player can take as “infrastructure” are not. They’re private resources. DK is not required to host a mall any more than some noob is required to gleam club a mud hut.

We’ve had several (public) instances of people getting angry-style upset because someone stopped fueling a portal, or the “city they depend on” vanished. Now (:smirk:) crying that the game is apparently not worth playing without another player spending thousands of dollars a month on sovereigns. If you know what I’m talking about.

I totally understand the nostalgia, and the sadness. But any real anger is basically misplaced here. These guys have worked to make a part of the game more accessible to others for years. They’ve done very well. If nobody is willing to take on the burden of 12 - 15k plots and spend hours and hours every month dealing with other player’s issues - it’s understandable.

Just posted, nice. If you have the plots, and the time to take some of this on - obviously a lot of players will appreciate it. And the saga of legendville mall will continue.

Trust me DK Mall is a way better name

I being fairly new’ish when I took on the challenge of DK Mall, boy did I not realize what I was in for. I mean it was and still is an amazing mall even with the many holes, broken roads, ashed and empty shops, it’s just overall huge.

It was a real challenge to battle griefing. Much more than I ever anticipated and part of me even sides with a person that griefs in a mall because technically if there is a free spot it can and should be filled by someone who wants to plot it. Hopefully that person intends to make a shop in that spot, but at times they don’t and that is understandable.

So for me, it was a challenge and quite interesting and at times amusing. I would wait…and wait…and wait… and wait… and one of the plotted areas of a grief (is it really a grief?) would be empty and I’d plot it and hold it for someone else. Was I in turn griefing at that point even as a manager of the mall? It’s an interesting thought and really why did it bother me at all that someone came along and plotted it in the first place even if they did or didn’t place a shop there. Oddly, that question was something I put more thought into than I probably should have.

Then the Legendville drama unfolded, I don’t care to go into it all and a whole lot of that drama didn’t involve me, but the little part that did combined with the 1000s of plots I was just letting go to waste in the mall holding shops for people and the constant oort that was being pumped into the portals we did manage and quite a bit of coin here and there just became a burden that I just didn’t want to bear.

There was this idea that DK had with building a new hub and so I went with that idea and considered making a new more centralized hub instead of the hub being on one side of the mall. I didn’t want to bother Legendville any more than it had already been bothered by the mall and by some others and I felt the central hub was a great idea.

So, my building skills are more functional than beauty so I asked for help and lo and behold @Tmmk volunteered to build the new hub and so he did and it’s a thing of beauty to me and still not completed. We have had problems getting shops to take some places and just overall it might have been a bit too over-ambitious in the end due to the current lack of players, but even with that a grief or two still occurs … if we can even call it griefing.

For me, DK Mall was my first and will always be my favorite mall. I do think it is time for it to go away though and make way for new ideas, new players and who knows maybe a new mall in the future.

I’d do it all again if the community really wanted a mall … but until then.

Appreciate you @DKPuncherello

I’ll keep things going as well as I can then.

I have a portal from my shop around the new hub to my one in the old mall, so my non-existent grappling skills won’t be put to the test should the old mall suddenly disappear on me. If both were to go I’d be in trouble.
