Toggle Block Placement

Suggestion for a feature- a toggle-able feature to make it so you can only place blocks horizontally, only place them vertically, only place them underneath, etc. I accidentally make a mess so often- then I have to stop and clean up the stack of blocks I just made in my living room. It’d be helpful, I think. Especially when building walls and bridges.

I am fully against this… Its just practising or trying to avoid lag spikes

I think this is a good idea, however with practice comes much skill I sometimes find myself making mistakes like this as well but practice makes perfect eventually you’ll be able to place vertically or horizontally with ease.

Care to elaborate, or are you just here to try and shoot down a suggestion without making an argument?

Im not trying to shoot this argument down it’s just, i played MC for 6 1/2 years. And maybe the first two weeks I had trouble placing blocks. So for me this feature just seems pointless, if you know what i mean.

Considering many blocks have the texture face different directions depending which surface you place it on, I think something like this would still be handy. Example - if you try to make a wood floor with all the boards facing the same direction this could make it a lot easier to consistently target the ground instead of the side of the last block (or vice versa) so they all point the right way. Sadly the smart block placement seems to always mess with me in cases like that right now.

With the wooden planks you mean it like the stone bricks in MC? Because in MC the just coded in a way that every stone brick block in the entite MC Server/Singleplayer world points the same way.

In Boundless you can control the orientation of the blocks depending on your direction when they’re places. This allows you an extra degree of control over the visual design.
