I am sure this most likely has been suggested before, but I do not care.
Terraria haves something called the Trash slot, where someone can put unwanted items in, which functions as follows
„A single slot for item disposal. A single item can be placed in this slot, and will remain there until it is removed by the player. Items can be taken out of the trash at any time with no consequences. However, when another item is placed in the Trash slot, the item currently in the Trash—even items that would normally stack—is permanently removed. Items destroyed by the trash cannot be retrieved in any way.“
This needs to be added into the game, I am getting sick of going on hunts and picking up other peoples
unwanted items that they dropped, and then having to spend some time to find a place to drop them where other people are less likely to pick them up.
It is going to get to the point where I stop caring and start dropping the items in the middle of the hunting area and purposefully make it other peoples problem.
as a fister- I just like that I do more damage overall. I kill mobs faster with fists than a slingbow- but i do agree that the amount of blocks that people drop can be extreme
I dunno about the trash slot- i still think people would mess things up (aka me) and still delete something they didn’t mean to. I’m still upvoting the discussion tho
Then they can make it an option that is by default disabled, and people who are willing to take the risk of making a mistake and accept that risk, can enable it.
If they are willing to put it in the same way it is done in the other game. it is still slightly forgiving because of the following.
Item lock on your inventory. Turn On/off picking up certain blocks. Maybe more helpful in this case.
It annoys a little when it happens but when people start dropping 100’s of blocks its on purpose.
There are even a few that purposely drop unwanted items on top of the meteor… every meteor…
The bin is a good idea but for a hunt its to little.
As I understand the idea items put in it wil be deleted when an other item try’s to stack.
So that item goes in your inventory and you have to put an other manually in the bin.
But 1 bin for trunks, foliage, rock, soil, mud, ash, other. Ends up with te same result as is happening now. Especially if you have to do it manually.
We should get the ability to turn on/off picking up certain items.
It is not a bad idea but I feel this might be hard for the devs to do, especially when it comes to making an UI that is user friendly to PS4 players who do not have the luxury of the control a PC can give.
I feel for most people, the trash can slot would be better, unless you can invent an easy to use UI that makes it simple to declare what items you don’t want to pick up and makes it easy to find and remove that declaration when that list starts to get quite populated.
I don’t think that would be the case, people toss out their junk because they picked up something on the hunt they dont want to carry and/or they are making room for hunt loot, if people started using the trash slot, they would not have to throw the item on the ground to make the room they wanted, yes they could still be rude and do it anyway, but I feel it will reduce the amount of random stuff on the ground.
Some people are going to be lazy, but at least it will give people who have respect about other people on the hunt a modestly easy way to respectfully get rid of the items with out having to either walk quite far away from the hunt, or place each item on the action bar and place them as blocks on the ground so they can’t be picked up unless mined.
and even if only 50% of the people on the hunt used it, that is a 50% chance that when the item gets dropped again, it will then be dealt with in a way that doesn’t go to bother yet another person.
