It’s more of a question of will boundless get a new version on ps5 or will it just be the PS4 version since PS5 will be backwards compatible with most PS4 games. Sony hasn’t tested every game but most of the top 100 games are working on the PS5. Likely the ones that weren’t will get a patch that makes them able to be played on the PS4 from the respective devs.
It won’t release on PS5, it will run as is on PS5 since the PS5 is backwards compatible. I am soooooo hoping tho the devs have a PS5 devkit already and will make a few changes to the game so it can really use the extra horsepower!
This probably can be done in the same game executable, so new version download for PS4/5 and it runs better on PS5. of course they might go the extra mile and make tons of improvements for the PS5 and make it a separate download altogether with cross buy…
Nope, Wonderstruck account is tied to PSN/Steam account, PS5 still uses PSN ![]()
Limitation of the PS4, not a bug
This is a misconception… people interpreted it wrong…
ALL PS4 games will work on PS5 in the PS4 and PS4 Pro compatibility modes (perhaps a handful won’t, I remember 1 game not working properly on the Pro). The games they are testing, the top 100, is to test to see if they can run in the PS5 Boost Mode at 2.33Ghz WITHOUT any changes…
And of course devs are free to come out with a patch to add some changes to support PS5 better, a PS5 patch ala a Pro patch.
The PS5 backwards compatibility mode works the same as on the Pro, they did not need to test all games to see if they worked, they just did, in Pro’s Boost Mode tho some might not work as expected…
Sony released a statement saying they tested the top 100 played games on the ps5 and most of them worked without changing anything and that they would continue to test other games and expand the backwards compatibility and that some of the adjustments might have to be made on the original software developers side. So like I said Sony hasn’t tested every game
… in PS5’s Boost Mode, yes…
They also released a statement to clarify that most games will work in PS4 and PS4 Pro BC mode…
Look, perhaps you want to keep thinking this, I don’t mind, but think about it logically, the way Cerny originally worded it could be interpreted in the way you describe it but it’s not what he meant. He was at that moment just done talking about the 3 modes the PS5 can run PS4 games at. The first 2 modes have been added to the GPU’s hardware to make sure all the games work. Why on earth would they add custom hardware to the GPU if it doesn’t make sure all the games work as is? Well because they do…
Even Sony’s clarification is kinda odd since it still sounds they need to test the game which I feel is not going to be necessary, they did not have to do that with the PS4 Pro’s normal PS4 mode either and the way BC is implemented in the PS5, thru hardware, is the same as with the Pro. This was also later clarified in another Cerny interview conducted by DigitalFoundry I believe.
Am sure they are going to test to see what the handful of games could be that do not work even in those modes, it’s not entirely the same, but to release a new console with additional hardware inside for BC and then not knowing if most of the games are going to work would be rather silly wouldn’t it?
All I know is they said they have to test each game individually and that some may need tweaks on the dev side but they would continue to work on backwards compatibility even after the ps5 launches. And that was in the clarification after their original statement.
But that clarification was again worded slightly awkwardly but nevermind we will see when it releases!
As far as a way to make it look better on PS4 - don’t show reflection maps when an area is in shadow @lucadeltodecso
Please don’t fix this
My goo farm was built on a lake just so i could have cool in-door reflections
PS5 will more than likely fix this!
Am kinda hoping it will then look and behave the same as my current PC does, sooo much better! All the nice water reflections, no more blobs from afar, higher frame rate, ahhhhhhhh, can’t wait.
Yes, I can play on PC too, even with the same controller, but both systems handle the controllers somewhat differently which means on PC it feels off. if I start the day on PC it’s ok, if I go PS4 first and then play some on PC, yikes…
That’s if the devs decide to make adjustments for the ps5. Since they’ll likely not have to change anything for it to run on the ps5.
