While I was building with friends I came across an issue.
We took a pond and covered it to make it a big cave with water inside.
The issue is that even though it is all covered up I can still see the sky being reflected in the water.
I play on a PS4, my friends on PC do not have this issue, they see a slight reflection of the ceiling (iirc).
Here are some screenshots of what I see.

IDK if it’s a limitation of their graphic engine but this is caused by the water being at alt 60, if you add or remove a row it will remove the sky reflection.

Yeah, I tried adding/removing water and it did take away the reflection. We liked the idea of having the ceiling being reflected in the water
PS4 doesn’t have water reflections of the blocks around it. Only shows the sky. It’s been that way since day one. I’ve never seen an official dev response about it tho(not that one doesn’t exist, I just haven’t seen it). But everyone tells me it’s the limitation the PS4 has(tho I wonder if the pro can handle it or not)

How can it be harder for the ps4 to render the reflection of a fixed not moving ceiling than a sky with moving planets… This is what I don’t understand I guess. But eh. Still thought it was worth mentioning here.
It is very sad cause I cannot truly enjoy what we built because of this
I don’t think there is block reflection for pc either.
Probably because the sky doesn’t really ever change much. And the world can/is ever changing and it would probably put too much strain on the PS4 to continually show those changes.
There is on pc. Here’s a screenshot posted by @majorvex on the screenshot thread.
Tho it might depend on your settings on pc @Gorillastomp

pic of how it looks on pc
Oh yeah, i think i had to set it to the lowest quality a while ago because it was too hard on my pc in cities
around water and never set it back.

You play cities skylines @Gorillastomp? i do too! I got a city with 10k population but idrk if i’ll ever get past it
I have ever migrating sewage that reaches the water pumps and gets my whole city sick and removing abandoned homes is sooo tiring. I have 4 minicites i manage inside that entire city (island, main, upstream, and forest industry (i dont manage the island much because its just extra popularion and idrk))
I do not play skylines, i was referring to the boundless cities that are build around water place when i was revealing atlases.

I made this little clip to show people some of what you can do in Boundless…lots of water reflection moments, but they are all outside. I haven’t paid attention to what it does underground…you’ve got me curious now

Yeah, I love to use water and the reflections can be so beautiful. I really hope to get some feedback from the devs on this.

So, back to the main subject.
Water reflection with the ps4. I can see the sky being reflected in water, even though the water is fully covered by blocks. Is it because there is a specific limitation with the ps4 that makes it so that the only thing water can reflect is the sky and it will absolutely always reflect the sky when the water it at alt 60? Or is it maybe a bug?
I understand the graphics limitations, but I feel like at the very least when water is covered the reflection should maybe be canceled ? Anyway, hopefully a dev will stop by later and enlighten us
