We really need a in game voice chat i think if we had one where the people had to agree to be in the voice chat. That way you cant just go around and say things to people. If we had a system like the trades or friend request where you send a voice chat request and if they agree to it then you can voice chat. The chat system we have now take you out of the gameplay and take some fun away from the game, cant do anything during the in game chat we have now. Please devs we need this added to the game. If No Mans Sky can voice chat with all platforms why cant Boundless

Discord. Im sure if there was in game chat it could possibly lag people more. Not for sure but discord works

Probably, given that it already lags quite often with how sensitive the game already is to connectivity.
Probably wonāt happen as the game is aimed at ages 7+, so policing voice chat will require a rating change.

In game voice chat would be really amazing. Text chat is ok but it gets tedious, especially having to put my controller down to type. I still prefer it to discord though because Iām usually not trying to hang out and chat when Iām focused on building and no one is actually around me. In game voice would allow me to be alone with my thoughts and vision while building then if someone comes to visit we can just start chatting without breaking stride.
It also feels rude sometimes after exchanging /waves with someone then going right back to building. Like idk if theyāre only going to say hi then leave or want to hang out or ask/show me something, so Iām stuck between going back to building or standing there waiting for them to say something. Local voice chat would be awesome.
I agree though that it canāt be added anytime soon due to increased server load but technology is always improving so it could happen eventually.
Parental settings and having it default off would take care of that wouldnāt it? Then potential settings like āfriends onlyā etc would prevent trolling.
PS anyone who reads this then sees me in game, donāt worry- I donāt stress over whether or not weāre going to have a conversation 
just saying voice chat would be better. Iām very friendly.

even if they donāt sell it, itās another account that i donāt want tied to my id/ip/etc/etc.
they need to fix text chat before adding voice chatā¦

@ZanzaXIII and I were attached at the hip. Weād share loincloths and our grandmothersā earthyam recipes. But one day I lent him a block of silty soil and he never returned it so we have beef.

I feel this is more a want than a need. i agree further work on the text chat will improve us short term in the next year vs what i would consider a longterm approach for voice chat.

In game chat would be amazing.
That said text chat is fine to but really needs to be improved. Because it isnāt āliveā for some channels.
There are times im answering a question and it takes the chat box an hour (or longer) to show me if they answered back or to see if they understood.
I can wait as im not stuck because I donāt know something. But if i asked on āhelpā I would be impatient to wait 4 a reply. Especially if it means i have to look at a screen 4 1hour waiting 4 it.
That said I understand notifications are to notify you even guild chat but why do i keep the universal chat until i log in. If I havenāt played for a week, universal messages are pretty pointless if they are more then 4-5 days old and no one is waiting for my response on those. But i have to scroll trough those anyway then even tough I donāt read them at all because I wasnāt in game.

I was literally about to make this suggestion! It becomes even more cumbersome when asking for help through the help channel, having to type your complete question through the PS4 text box is pretty slow (for me at least)
