We need to overhaul portals and portal fueling

I would like to point out that no activity is done in a vacuum. You can switch between them, and most players do multiple activities on a daily basis. Yes, we all have our favorite activities, but that doesn’t mean every activity should have equal output.

Interesting to hear. I play on PC and PS4. I prefer to hunt on PS4 because of the controlls. I do get lag, but I haven’t experienced it to be unplayable…except large hunts on certain planets.

I am all for improved performance!

Anyone else think we should have a guild based modifier that reduces portal costs based on endeavor/activity?

OR let us use compact Oort in portals for fuel

Definitely not that (the first suggestion)
Compact oort I like.

What if, some type of crystal charging device was put into the game where you could power oort stones up or “charge/ionize” them to hold more power. Essentially increasing fuel per oort. ??

Someone could make a mad scientist lab charging oorts in chambers

like meteorite ichor except useful?

perhaps, but it should at least not require us to have to be doing certain activities, like how we cannot source meteorite ichor 100% of the time readily due to the scarcity of T7 planets and whatnot.

Yes, and more interesting and obtainable in quantities. With a machine or process.

Yeah I’m thinking there is a way to make it fun and entertaining in a rewarding way. Just needs to be developed.

Basic crafting is okay. But doing a “A+B=C” equation is kinda bland and especially when you get less for your effort.

Advanced fuels are the same problem.

Not enough of it and too time consuming to make any quantity to make it a fun aspect of the game or a sustainable business.

I understanding having a draw back, but a drawback is not always needed for a balanced universe. Sometimes you do something because it is just better. Society progresses to more beneficial processes and not all of them have drawbacks, just different costs.

I’m actually okay with ichor staying if it was more obtainable or not a loss when using it.

Development and time went into making the item, but nobody uses it. Because it is not balanced. It’s there to increase time but at great cost, a cost that everyone says is too much. Seems like a waste to not balance it, so it is used. @Coolpants

Yes. Exactly this would be great for builders. Blink seconds to determine cost, not size.

God i wish…

What about if we could have gleamclub cover the cost of running 1 portal on the account and then also maybe add a consumable item that can give the persons account gleamclub, then make that item purchasable with real world currency.

Putting portals on gleam club is not ok.

sorry but no, that would be hella exploitable

Here’s an idea that @krasniy fielded very early in this discussion. Paraphrasing cause I don’t feel like going back and looking for it; however it goes like this: All portals turn on when used; turn off when not. I don’t know about a red button but this could be done whenever a player stands in front of it while the gate would have a timer that would shut it off in… 20 seconds? 30 secs? I would think oort usage would go down by 1/3 to 2/3 as I’m sure some portals are not used that often.
One other thought was to enhance on the roadrunner drop. Why make it so rare and so little?

Yes, you could have as many portals as you wanted without Nuking the game speed I think with this idea

I would be in favor of portal size being opened up

Do you mean large portals cost less or that we can open portals that are further away?

I would love both together actually!

Removing the link between size and oort usage probably

Ability to have a 1x2 go 25 blinksec
But I’m also down for increasing max distance

I also think that up to 4 blinksec should only cost 1 oort per hour. This way people could have more inexpensive portals within the same region (lower server costs this way as I understand it)

I like this idea a lot but I think footfall would have to be increased or there’d be too much incentive not to have public portals

this could work.
