For those of you who love to gather, mine, or generally collect resources, what is your favorite (or favorites if there are too many to choose from) thing/s to collect?
For example, I love mining (while listening to music) for diamonds and collecting all the other goodies like hard coal in the process. 
does gathering regions count? cause i really enjoy mapping planets
I like to gather plants & things from special planets.
I usually have youtube or spotify going on another monitor.

I love Mining and all the goodies with it, including the rock colors.

Sometimes when I take a break from building or other things I like to mess around and collect beans, break rocks, break open plants, or collect stuff I see on the ground lol (I am not a noob lmao)

Mining while zoning out to music definitely one of the most relaxing/healing things I’ve found in gaming. 
Gathering beans from the tops of Island Tree biomes, and bitter beans from Maze biomes, another favorite. Latter very profitable and since it is glacier, much easier than regular ice since you walk normally.
Not sure if it counts as gathering but equally rewarding as mining (more on the profit, and a bit more entertaining): Roadrunner and Hopper hunting on T6s. When done on the flat hunting ground areas I set up, Gleam Spiral mainly with some others bordering sometimes, it really feels more like collecting because if you are set up for speed and stealth there really isn’t much challenge or danger to it. Run around and kill, and the excitement of trophy and oort drops.
Edit: Oh, forgot the big one - marble on the color cycling exos!! I miss that…

Roadrunner hunting is definitely a close second for me. 
I do love that moment when you find tons of foot fall in a beacon in the middle of nowhere.
For some reason I can not rationally explain I really enjoy gathering Spooky Orbs. I have many storage blocks full because for a couple of weeks out of the year it’s my obsession to gather them, especially on really high-tier worlds where I have to evade the local fauna at the same time. I don’t really have any use for them, I just like to gather them. Might have something to do with the sound it makes, definitely has something to do with the limited-time availability.

favourite way to procrastinate rather than build is mining.
mining, mining, mining.
Especially when it involves gathering lots of metals, fossils and rocks for use in builds.
As well as a lovely mind-deadening way to pass the time it is also an easy task to do while using my recent purchase of a treadmill (just fitted a plank of wood over the uprights so can use keyboard and mouse while walking moderately fast up a hill). Tried chiselling while on treadmill but ended up scaring half the build so keeping it simple like pounding stuff with a hammer works well.
