What brought you back to Boundless?

As the topic states: What brought you back to Boundless?

And for those lifers…What kept you playing?

As a returning player of a 4 year hiatus, Ive returned because Boundless scratched an itch that other games couldn’t scratch. The community here has always been great even if the occasional disagreements happen. It feels like your returning to family. The creativity everyone in this community is unmatched to any other game of this genre ive played.

That’s the easiest way to describe why I keep playing (longest hiatus I had lasted 6 months).

To define that more precisely…
I suppose it’s perfect combination of freedom of building, a great mix of sovereign solitude when needed and socializing when wanted, a cool blend of sandbox with just enough survival bits.
Also (very important to me) player only content (no NPC quests or ready items dropping from trees or creatures).
Last but not least - sheer beauty of it all.

Honestly I’ve never found another game that could scratch the itch quite like boundless can.
After all these years there’s still no other voxel game that has the same refined look that boundless has. And the chiselling. Oh man the chiselling. And everyone plays in the same universe and can visit anyones builds whenever they like. The community has alway been top tier as well. Still my favourite game and the most hours I’ve ever put into a game.
See you all in game.

I came back because out of the hundreds of games I own and have played, Boundless is my all-time favorite. I actually checked in on the steam page every once in a while and so based on that I thought the game had completely died. Fortunately I was reminded of these forums and that there is still an active community here.

In my opinion a good game design involves good progression mechanics and there’s nothing quite like building your own world block by block or buying and selling hundreds of different items across a whole interconnected universe of worlds. It even has great gathering, mining, and hunting mechanics. And of course, doing it all with other people (or at least around other people) makes even an introvert like me feel like I’m a part of something bigger than myself.

This. Even the times I’ve been “gone”, I usually kept gleam club running. (Like right now I’m on a big Anno 1800 kick, but if you look closely at my area, you see new bits upon occasion… or not see because its all underground.)

Oh, I go check. @VerucaKatt Hah!

I left for a few months once. I reclaimed a lot of work due to the lack of players, the lack of dev support and the lack of communication. I had zero intentions of returning.

I returned because Boundless is relaxing at times for me, but also a game that is easily left on in the background when I am busy with other things. When you have a busy life, at times it’s just nice to have a game that is chill enough that you can take a break every so often and come back and not have to worry about missing something or losing all your stuff due to a death.

While it’s always possible I’ll return to Boundless some day, Pax Dei is currently scratching the itch of exploration, crafting, and building that Boundless did.

My son twisted my arm lol. We played together 8 years ago on here and he wanted to come back so he got me to come along for the ride
