What do YOU think Boundless needs to regain more players?

Something like the cow level on DIablo, where you put a special drop in a portal to open to a group event…

Maybe reduce the grind. Farming is kinda not worth it.maybe increase percentages make it worth the grind… mining does get boring after a period of time. Maybe increase return on a gem found so not mining for a hour. Maybe just give a more when making stuff instead of a mass craft of 50 make it 100. I say this from just reading forums. The biggest complaint is the grind. I noticed lately I find myself playing less and it’s getting harder to do what I want because of time constraints so a little more would be great when I have to grind away…

I would like to see Boundless double down on things that can be customized.

The only other mmo I’ve played before was ESO, and I always had this gnawing feeling that I was wasting time trying to make millions of gold to buy some pre-built house that thousands of other people also own. In this sense, Boundless destroys the competition.

Similarly, there is nothing special about the weapons and armor. I always wanted to have one legendary sword that would level up with me. What if Boundless allowed forgers to name their gear and weapons, and allowed us to maintain them with mats over time so they don’t break? That would create depth and a stronger appreciation for the things we own, and more of a bond between forger and customer… also a weapon leveling system where you can assign points to power or speed to give it more value over time, and more history.

My first idea on this matter though was customizing and naming food and drinks. As a builder, having people come around to look at and talk about my work is admittedly a huge ego trip for me :expressionless: and is likely a large part of why I’m so invested in the game. I also like telling people “hey I buy your teaching pies!” and can imagine they get a similar feeling of having a solid role in our universe…

What if brewers could make customized drinks, tailored to the customer. Each level (mega, super) gives more ‘points’ that can be assigned to multiple buffs. Then they are named. We can debate with friends about which ones are the most useful in any given task, trade with each other to try new ones, decide whose names have the funniest puns, idk. If I was a brewer and saw someone shout “Dutch’s brews have the best spread of buffs for building”, I’d be pretty amped.

I would love private servers. I know this is a “social” game but seriously? Over population is a real problem. If you want to build and not have to worry about another “group” taking over then you have no safe haven to go. My friends and group has had to move 3 times now because “The Shire” was just too close. It was not their fault, they are playing the game. But my friends and i would like to have a game that we can play, build, etc, without worry of being “consumed” we LOVE this game but when you have only a small amount of “safe” worlds there is nothing for people like us to enjoy. Looking at the sky in game you should see that making the game a “pay to expand” kinda backfired. TAKE THAT ■■■■ OFF. now you have a thousand players who throw their wallets at expantion insad of earning it. People who are stuck in a hospital getting treatments like me can not afforde that ■■■■. You want players to return? stop crapping on the poor ones and favoring the wealthy. I know i am going to catch flak for this, but you basically pulled a “Fallout 76” in my opinion.

There are 25 vast level 1 & 2 “safe” planets to build on. There is definitely not an over-population problem in the game at this time.

I will agree that the plotting system has issues and could be a lot better/different. No one wants to be over-taken.

There is no “pay to expand”, but I guess you are talking about the ability to buy cubits to obtain plots quicker than you can earn them for free?

There are not 1000 players out-spending you with irl money buying plots. There are on average 50-170 active players in the game right now.

There are many techniques that players use to level up faster & gain free cubits for plots: mass crafting, refining rocks, teaching pies, mining, etc.

If your group needs help with anything, I’m sure there are players that would be more than willing to help…machines, scouting a new open area, tools, etc.

Frustrating that you can own 10,000 plots but someone can always build something ugly where your plots end.

Not an over population issue? have you played the ps4 version lately? There may be only “50-170” players, but those players own a LOT of plots (again pay to expand bites the average player again) you can not go more then 50 plots in any direction without finding some plots owned by another player, maybe just a beacon controle but still. . that makes building a settlement extremely hard to do without crowding other players. and i am glad that you think that there are so many “safe” planets, but you have the whole “language” thing to worry about. You took people speaking several languages and threw them in a game, so if you do want to meet people you ARE restricted to the safe planets of your region. i am not attacking the game, i am pointing out that with such a great idea, the fallowthrough is lacking. Believe it or not, the people really would enjoy a “Private” server or maybe a “Personal” server. Ark has done it, Minecraft does it and it is loved by players. Boundless has asked players what they have wanted sense the game has come out and even then they ignore the replies that they do not want to deal with. I have seen it in EVERY chat, faq, conversation, get the idea yet? You are looking at the game as a “selling” point…not a players point. If Boundless is losing players then is it so much of a stretch to believe that way of thinking is not working?

They have said from the beginning they will eventually offer some sort of rental or private planets. I don’t work for them, so I can’t say how far along they are with that.

Your points are def valid. However, I would be happy to show you huge areas of land that have zero plots or beacons. 50% of the current perm planets are level 1 or 2. Everything is not plotted. They can also spawn new planets anytime if things ever do get kinda full.

The servers are in a few different regions. As with any MMO, selecting a server closest to your location will be better. You can choose any planet you wish to though, which is what most people do.

I play the games you mention and many others…for some I also prefer co-op or private servers where you have to invite people to play with you or they can’t join.

I def think adding rental or private planets will make a lot of people very happy, as will adding Titans and the other things they mentioned.

The problem is, even if there’s other planets, not all land and scenery is equal.

What a thread! Wow. We got it all. Lol. I’m mixed about this “casual player” “issue”. If you are a casual player, well what kind? I think those who are upset casual players are in a minority here. I’m mean, you’re casual! Why complain about crafting times. You’re casual. Plan, gather, craft, build. Repeat on your casual time. If you’re lacking time on the other hand I wouldn’t say you’re just casual. You just want the game to be directed more at you instead of the people who can keep this game alive for the “casual player”. So for example. In this very thread we have talks about how many plots there are across the lands. I personally have over 10 k plots. I’ve also EARNED those plots. I’ve spent over 500 on cosmetics in this game. I may have bought 300 plots early on. Now let’s not forget the founders with some having a 200 percent plot boost! (Most of us have 10 percent). So by making it easier to craft when it actually is pretty easy may be overall making it much harder on these players who lack time. Perhaps this game is not for you? Private planets would definitely cure this issue though. I’m all for those as well. Anyway, these are just thoughts and subject to change. :stuck_out_tongue: I love this game. You want to know how to get whatever you want in this game. I’ll let you in on a secret.

  1. New character
  2. Find me or powerman. Haha :joy:
  3. I give you rock, tables and teaching pies.
  4. You level to 50 in 8 hours. ( masscrafing skill first)
  5. Skill up to be a miner/ builder.
  6. Go to low tier hunts we al have at least twice a day.
  7. Sell all mats.
  8. YOU ARE RICH NOW. (And you didn’t even need a home yet)
9 Use knowledge tab to search for what you planned to build. BUY MATS.
  9. Buy 3 greater beacon fuels. ( one year of fuel)
  10. Set alarm when to refuel. This is very casual, once per 4 months. If. you are leaving early fuel early. Reset alarm.

I do agree with this. I’ve said I would hope there are more lvl 1 & 2 lush planets added, if any (since people gravitate towards those to build on).

@Savior Very blunt, but you’re not wrong lol
It seems that casuals are the majority though

…this game does seem to have a knack for finding all the hardcore players :sunglasses:

Lol yeah I don’t know the numbers and I’m not a black and white person. There has to be variables in achieving a certain goal. I’ve seen many post about what this game lacks and especially targeting the user base. I’ve even made one called thoughtful ideas. I think the base is good for now. Slow increases would be good for us as this allows the devs to adjust and problem shoot. I would love to see the actual sale numbers. I’m sure I can find it if someone already hasn’t. I think a lot forget this is just a game. But that being said it’s game that does require time. Alot of it. I don’t think you can make things that easy to accommodate to “keep” those who want things that easy. This would just be a different game in general. I’m fine with the grind. It’s rewarding. It’s what drives us. Any successful person will tell you this. I think to combat this two games have to exist. We all know this would come in the form of private servers.

I think the game needs to cater to more than one play style. For the last year it’s only been worried about the building play style. Nothing has improved or changed about the hunting style of the game. It’s literally been the same for over a year so it is boring now

Return to the previous exo spawn rate. It made every day exciting. Exciting to log on, check discord/forums for new exo’s. They spawned often enough for me to go to a few and not always be the last!

Please!

Yep, I’ve talked about that with a friend too, for both food and drink, a Zelda style cooking/brewing thing where the ingredients you use have a certain effect but that there’s a max amount of ingredients you can add. Like counting calories, haha, adrenal glands costs 2 points and makes you fast, 10 exotic yams costs 1 point and makes your tools last longer, etc., etc. Then you can make interesting combinations…

I would need a much bigger shop tho!

Yeah, there’s only one currently, I mean, WHAT???

Granted, at times I was unable to get to all the exo’s since I also wanted to accomplish other things in game, but this is now completely to the other extreme, soooo not enough of them lately…

Started right before Halloween :frowning:

And we also haven’t heard a peep or gotten a new Testing update since, am fricking curious what they are working on!!
