What happens to signs with colored text when gleam club expires?

Is that a recent change? I know I’ve lost gleam club and my text stayed the same. I also used my account with gleam club to write a sign in color then remove plot and put another beacon from another ps4 account with no gleam club and it would stay. Keep in mind I did this a good while back.
Can’t tell you if it’s recent or not. But my pc character lost his gc and signs went to black… unless I left them black 
I don’t usually do that tho. Now I’m curious lol
I had white gleam signs which default to white text set to black text via gc of another player. Had those plots tranferred over to me when I didn’t have gc and the sign text remained custom-colored instead of reverting to white. Although I’m sure going in and editing the sign will lose the custom coloring.
the sign text will retain its colours until it is next modified (and if you renewed gc before they were next modified theyd of course remain coloured)
