WHAT IF. What if plots were also tied to prestige?

I feel like I need a series intro like @Jiivita has :stuck_out_tongue:

Aaaaanyways, My rambling babble brain came up with a suggestion. This is related to the whole stone/rock exp, but let us leave all those comments for other threads that already exist.
This one could die within hours, or even minutes, but give me a moment to natter on.

WHAT IF. What if alongside the current plots on level up and bought with cubits, we also had a system that ties with prestige. The higher the prestige goes, the beacon itself earns plots?

We know beacons earn their own coin (many other threads, please don’t do it), and can keep track of plots in use. So why not allow beacon’s plots to naturally grow.

Sure you’d have to invest 5/10 plots and a good build (based on new prestige calcs) to start earning beacon plots, but why not? This could allow towns, cities even private homes to grow almost naturally.
So this would work on total beacon prestige, you could place these plots where-ever you like so long as they’re attached to plots within the beacon.

Perhaps as a slight alternative to their own plots, maybe beacon plots would self generate once a single plot reaches a certain prestige.
Let’s say plot prestige would need to be 10k to trigger neighbouring beacon plots. Once a plot hit that number, all adjacent plots would become beacon plots.
Cue bad picture! Obviously a side-on cut through, don’t ask me for 3D, not right now!

I hope that makes some sense. I’d suggest that you would be able to remove these beacon plots with the deplotter, and maybe when adding plots, a system checks if it’d be from your stack or the beacons.

Aaaaand, of course these plots would self-remove if a plot drops below prestige, I’d hope with some sort of visual warning :stuck_out_tongue:

That’s all for now, it’s a bit of a ramble, but that’s how my brain works!
Thanks for reading!

My previous WHAT IF was within the thread of stones

TBF I’m a little pessimistic at this point, so i apologize if this seems to come from a “what’s wrong with this idea” viewpoint, please just consider it a bit of devil’s advocate but it’s a very real issue here where this will be taken as the “haves” getting more.

I mean, the people who feel they are struggling to get plots are not going to be excited about a system where you’re getting plots because you already had plots.

On a more technical note plots that self-remove is a huge scary no no. Is that going to be the plot I placed to block some foliage, or the one with my adv coils in it? This would need to be a system such that when you no longer qualify for the bonus, you are not allowed to plot any further until you have otherwise earned or bought the plots to cover what you have already placed.

EDIT: also the new system is coming but under the current system you can build your way to a point where you receive a notable prestige boost by adding empty plots.

For a heavily built structure this could lead to a cycle of add empty plot -> gain prestige -> gain plot(s) -> add empty plot -> repeat.

People who plot only after working on a section would obviously benefit from this,

However, this also encourages the use of gleam towers and gaining prestige just to get plots. Given the changes to how prestige works, is this what the dev team really wants? Not only that, but this also doesn’t account at all for the people out to protect their area since they wouldn’t have built yet; thus, no prestige and no extra plots.

Also, it would be really annoying if the plots disappeared because you wanted to change your build which temporarily lowered your prestige. You’d essentially have to be careful if you so wanted to even change your stone walls to brick as the prestige might drop during that time.

I honestly think this is almost too complicated of a system? Just my 2 cents anyway.

Meh, was just a rambling brain, and maybe something to think about

Always good to at least make suggestions. Someone else might build off these ideas.

I agree with Kal-El. Personally, I’m just stating what I think of with each suggestion with both the good and the bad.

This would make it slow going and more time for griefers to see, and plot all around you. If i couldnt plot out on a large build, I would not play.

No… No… and Definitely… No.

This would create all kinds of confusion and or chaos when someone tampers with their build to redesign aspects of it, or the devs change the value of the blocks and how it is added up yet again.

Even with a warning, People still seem to fail the refueling warning. We don’t need more things to create random losses. and therefore create more disgruntled players.
