What up?

I’ll rephrase that a bit because I enjoy and appreciate the world-building and pre-history details we have. I’m just not looking for a written storyline telling me (and everyone else) what my goals are.

ESO is my best example. No character in that game is special. Not one microscopic detail of the ESO experience is unique. That, to me personally, is the definition of generic. Ironically, the kind of story elements in any given game that don’t break my immersion are usually the generic tasks that would realistically come up multiple times. Wiping out bandits etc.

If they did want to do a full story with quests and all that, then I stand corrected. I remember people saying before that James was against it but their sources could have been wrong too. Either way, I prefer it like it is, giving me the power to create the story over something contrived that may or may not resonate with me. I’ll cook my own chicken with an array of spices to choose from over someone else’s lemon zest sweet and sour chicken nonsense any day.

Heres my sense in all of it just being a guy who doesnt know much about the devs or really anything that high up. Ive been playing for a year now and i love this game, i came from minecraft and i dont think i can ever go back, ive tried. This game’s creativity and the fact that you can travel around so many planets and travel to other peoples worlds that they have purchased, the fact that everythings just connected the way it is in this game i couldnt give the devs more props for, i love how much i can just go wild with my imagination because it offers so many different types of colors and ect. Could there be more updates sure yeah. But i love this game. And im sure alot of us just hope and pray the servers will stay up no matter what the devs decide they want to do, because there may not be alot but there still it quite a few of us who enjoy being able to get on this game everday, or take breaks and come back to it, ill say it again, I LOVE THIS GAME.

OK, yeah, I see what you’re saying now. I think I misread your use of the word “story” and lumped it in with my own personal issues regarding the “style” and “theme” of the game.

Ironically, I’d never played minecraft. And then one day I bought boundless on a whim. It’s been fun from day 1. After being in the game for about a year, I tried minecraft. I can see the draw to it, but it is graphically inferior, even with mods. Plus as I mentioned earlier, no grapples!
I try to get my minecraft friends to come play boundless, but they just don’t want to learn a new system. I’ve even offered to buy the game for them.
