My reasons sort of changed over time. The #1 thing that hasn’t changed is, I want to support the game and so will do it if I can afford it, without regard to other factors.
Earlier I was thinking, well, peaceful private refuge for me and a few friends. And I might still do that if I can afford multiple ones, but sort of leaning against that now. Now the big idea is to set up at least one really good public mining world. A couple, if affordable. Secondary factor is to have a world that is to my tastes (Barbie colors maybe ), and also somewhere for huge, sprawling projects that could keep me busy for years - maybe a big road system, or even big underground tunnel system with the mines.
Yes, I am very stoked to spin up multiple gem planets for public usage.
I can not tell you how irritated and disgusted i was my first time mining on the green planet and then running in to walls that covered huge gem chunks. I get why it was done, because they could, but it was just a terrible*display of human greed, which with rental planets will be absolutely so easy to undo.
Then there’s the whole desire of hoping for complex prefabs creating very fun terrains. I enjoy going to Houchus sometimes and doing nothing other than grappling across the map, gripping the peak of a mountain just right and then sling-shotting myself right over the top of it getting the sense of skydiving before needing to throw another grapple out.
I’m excited to find another planet like that to explore and die on. And I’m equally excited to see what others discover. The amount of hype I have is like that of a child, knowing he’s going to the ice cream shop… knowing there are 20-30 something flavors and combos, and just waiting to see what new combos have been unveiled this weekend.
I want to make a world with its own lore, a place worth exploring on foot
where I don’t have to constantly worry about stepping on anyone’s toes or that someone will step on mine.
plus when I first arrived on a private planet on Testing I experienced an actual warm feeling (whatever people call those)
@majorvex I voted other. It’s related to control but not explicitly to restrict people. Rather to be able to have more settlement control regarding near-griefing and generally people I like who aren’t currently playing and are in the way of an active settlement. I.e. people who have agreed that if they are not playing for X months the guild can remove particular plots.
@james
I would LOVE the ability to remove individual beacons rather than blacklist players. That would be more in line with my idea of responsible management (for the sovereign), and would solve a large issue for me (and others I’ve talked to)
It may be too late to change things for now, but I do agree with you about individual beacons.
Needing to remove a beacon doesn’t automatically mean the person needs to also be blacklisted. (Maybe they are going to be gone awhile, moving, new job hours, etc…and can’t log in to move their stuff when you need them to.)
