I put oort in the extractor so that I can fuel my portals.
It says 35 minutes and 3 seconds for each bunch.
I had to add more coal/fuel to my spark generators.
I’m standing at my machine and there is no indicator as to how long it will be before there is enough power generated so that I can manually tell it to craft some more, so I can go do something else.
It’s not a solar powered battery that needs to be charged…So why does the coal take so long to power the machines? In addition to the time it will take to “craft” the items? If it was a fossil fuel refinery, I could maybe see the reason, but it’s a generator that uses coal, which should ignite almost immediately. Right?
It processes the coal into spark. It’s not like the furnace that burns the coal. And It does say x amount of spark per second. Depending which you put in there will depend how many seconds it takes to process it. So medium compact coal goes at 15 per second and its 4500 per so it’ll take 5min for 1 piece to be processed. Lol and as I’m typing this the tool tip tells you the spark conversion on the items
Yes, thank you - I know it shows the spark per second. I’m just wondering the logic behind it all. It’s already going to cost a lot of time to process the items. I’d like to know why does it have to take so long for the fuel to kick in? Most people are going to add a good bit of coal. I just don’t see the logic.
It sort of is a fossil fuel refinery. It’s turning the coal into electricity, so whatever the oortian tech is doing I think of it as something like fueling a generator that takes time to charge up the battery. If you’re in a rush you can use a less dense fuel that will convert sooner.
In the end the denser fuels deliver at a higher per-spark average speed but if you have several generators stacked together you can spread the fuel over several slots to speed things up. Since you probably only need a few thousand spark to get that first batch going filling a few slots with some peat or wood would get that going while the larger pieces of coal break down.
I always imagine we are heating up interdimensional water to spin an interdimendional turbine…and the guy in the sanctum refuses to click the button to warp it faster because he is siphoning the intrest on the energy.
