World descriptions when looking at portals, warps, saved world list, etc. should have the numerical Tier in parenthesis next to them.
Till.
Inhospitable Metal World (T4).
Potent Atmosphere 1
Humankind invented ordinal numbers for a reason. They are easy to reason about and apply broadly to other ordered sets. How many of us have an easy time putting these in order:
Lush
Temperate
Placid
Rugged
Turbulent
Inhospitable
Savage
(trick question demonstrating the ease of confusion)
The playerbase refers to world tiers a certain way because it is easier. Official support for numbered Tiers when looking at portals, warps, world descriptions in saved worlds list, would make the game more user friendly. And numbers create a uniform language across translations, which is better for the community
I noticed personally I have many of the tiers for known worlds memorized, so this often isn’t an issue, but in the new age of sovereigns (and in the case of exos) I always have to double check what tier number the description refers to. In a way this is good because it reminds me what it was like to be a new player.
It is trivial to check world tier. It is not a problem for me. But it is a problem for non-english speakers, for new players, for ppl who don’t use the forums, etc. etc. etc. And it is a nice convenience and polish that takes almost no effort to implement.
But if they change to numbers then people might figure out that they’ve been doing it wrong this whole time and that what they think is a T1 is actually a T0, and that lucents spawn on T6-T7
In all seriousness though, I do support adding the numbers whether they are the “World Tier” or the “World Level”, so long as it’s consistent.
What I mean by this, is that if you go to knowledge and look up something that’s only on higher tiers, it’ll say something like “World Levels 4-8”, and yet internally these are referred to as Tiers 3-7.
Right now though if a player is told either by the knowledge or by another player that gems are on a Level 5+ world, how in the heck are they meant to know what that means?
Yeah I have also noticed that the internal tiers start from 0. For historical consistency I think I prefer if they keep the visible numbering from 1. Very good points.
