World Update Frequency

About the “block re-appearing” thing, for me, that has always been “a thing” when not using the “proper tool”. Not saying its the case in this instance, but its always been a part of game mechanics when damage isn’t… applied? properly.

After over an hour of mining, it feels better for sure. Yesterday i could see the sand texture appearing on the block after breaking the block in front of them. Had none of this today.

As for the block reappearing, it could be like @VerucaKatt said. Since i am smashing them with an hammer. Its like my game thinks i did enough damage to break it but the server says its not. But it did happen less today.

Just ran my hunt planet as though I was prepping it. It took a little bit to get the first one rolling but after that they seemed to drop with just a slight delay. I was able to get them to at least get them to drop in each region which is a big improvement as prior to todays update about 30-40% would not drop. I think Jon-Eric is on the right track now and maybe a few more tiny adjustments will get us back to smooth play again.

yeah, just for fun after I ran all the regions I started back at the beginning and I was getting multiples at several again. Sunday we had to run a lot more regions to get the near the same amount of Oort. I am thinking we will be back to about the same amount of regions as we did before the changes. Should be close at least.

It’s definitely going into the right direction (ping moved back down into the 40s ever since the update). Been building a bit on Lamblis though and noticed that, when placing blocks one by one in quick succession that sometimes one just disappears again. Some sort of client/server de-sync? Did not observer any ping spikes when it happens.

The unplayable connection when entering planets, that I only had on high ping planets before, and for a while now also on my sov, is now on pretty much every world and sometimes pretty bad. It doesn’t happen every time for EUC worlds though.

Very odd. What I dislike is the inability to really reproduce these issues as there are so many variables. Routes, server you are connected to, Boundless settings, etc. etc.

Seems to happen when you deplete a stack of blocks in a smart stack. Seems like the client and the server disagree if switching to a new stack has already occurred (for a bit).

oh yeah i remember that. This always been an issue.

i have no problem with building at EU planets, building in NA/AUS keeps block dissapearing after placing so i assume its just routing between EU - NA/AUS is bad usually  same with mining/ blocks reappearing undamaged after being hit, nevver happening while im mining at EU worlds

with things as they are, I would like to be one of the first to admit that I am willing to sacrifice my work done if wiping and reducing the world count will help anything. I want to see this game thrive but this current track doesnt seem good for us.

No way, I know you started over but many have massive builds and would be done with the game. Monty also said no wipes.

I would hope there is a way to make the game much cheaper to run, without sacrificing worlds for it.
I know it’d definitely kill the rest of my motivation to play, if I had to start over yet again. I’ve had to replace over 50,000 blocks by hand once already… ;-;

I understand that, truly I do. But as things stand, something must give, I have been with the game since early access and can by no means be deterred from loving this game, no matter what might happen to it.

I have been on Storis continually since a couple of days after release. I’ve kept playing and building, and kept all my original builds to watch my progress, my first garden build the ongoing forest build, etc etc etc. Jarohdan’s colosseum build alone took us two years of gathering raw mats and building, and chiselling. But I’d guess Storis would be one of those planets considered disposable if they had to get rid of the amount of homeworlds. Losing all of that would be enough to stop me coming back even though I love this game.

This is why I document my builds on AutoCAD and have many times rebuilt the structures I designed.

it’s not really the thought of rebuilding that would daunt me, but the loss of the memories of why things were built where they were, and the people who used to play who helped shape things. I have a angle in one of my early mostly rectangular builds that I refuse to get rid of because it reminds me of how well populated that area used to be, and I remember the underground house that wrapped around my build. Storis always reminded me a bit of The Shire in Lord of the Rings. That’s why I fell in love with it and never moved.

This is why I suggested blueprinting beacon functionality so you can save every block as it was then carry it over elsewhere to drop it and your build is secure.
