WTB - Rough Amethysts and Emeralds @ The Coil King!

Different angle on the topic - the problem here is getting more materials in to produce the stock that sells really well at these lower prices.

Gems are abundant, and yeah at the moment i think OP has a fair reasoning behind that price.
Problem is; somewhere, someone is buying gems at higher and managing to sell products at higher.

Citizens would love to buy from A but prefer to sell to B - so in essence we’ve created this monster ourselves.

If i paid 5c per earthyam, I’m pretty sure i could become the earthyam king. If my cooked yams sell at 10x what they’re actually worth but I’m the only guy who’s got yams- well then you’d have to go through me. Problem is everybody gets more yams and make their own at a much lower perceived price.

This seems like a ridiculous comparison because yams are everywhere and everyone can cook their own. BIG HINT: Gems are relatively scarcer but equally unlimited. Also, there are many more than a few people mining them, and a large number making coils out of them.

I think a strategy OP should consider is bartering gems for coils. Or silver. Or any of the ingredients. That way, i dont sell you my gems and when i want those sweet coils they’re all gone. I get a bit of security that my gems relate directly to my coils.

My market approach has always been to sell where i want to buy. 200% profit margin? I dont wana buy from you. Cheapest-in-market? Sure i want your products, but they’re all sold out… hence trade mats for results, makes a win-win easier

I agree. The one thing we can’t disagree on is facts. Facts are how any conversation can be had. Only around facts can we have any type of meaningful discourse.

How do we know it’s Centless who bought out the OP? Is there any proof?

I know some friends of mine bought some coils - not sure if that’s the shop they bought from. I would have, but I’m too broke lol

Because it triggers some inner core value about how they think the game should be played. I notice this alot in this game. It’s a very odd community. Half of the playerbase supports open market competition. The other half wants “fairness” or want some sort of quasi socialism to be implemented. It’s just weird…

If everyone had fair prices, then this game would be so boring. I’m glad there are players who are creative and try to do all sorts of stuff to get ahead. Praise thy sandbox!

PS- If people want to boycott, then put your money (or time) where your mouth is and boycott. I see people get enraged by XYZ players doing things that they don’t like. But then when it’s time to put up or shut up, they go silent. There are creative ways to boycott that doesn’t involve naming/shaming via forums.

PPS- I used to play a game called Wurm Online and they had a mechanic where you could invoke kill rights on a player if they entered your deed. That was one way to deter buy outs of sorts. It was funny

If there were 5000 people playing, no one would care what one shop does or doesn’t do. This game will have to grow a lot more before the market can stabilize at all.

I have noticed people wanting to control the market & micro-manage while I’m on a certain UK server. I see the opposite on a certain US server…a true free market is welcome - no one gripes about what others are doing. A difference in philosophies I suppose.

Regardless, neither one is working at the moment because the market is too new, unstable, and uncertain.

But hey…LED lol

I would like to point out that out of curiosity, I’ve visited some player’s stores that are griping about other’s prices. I’ll just say, their prices aren’t wonderful. That is all.

Just to be clear, are you saying that the UK servers support market restrictions and the US servers are more capitalistic? That’s really interesting.

I know @Tomir is from a socialist country like Norway and he’s openly tried to push certain socialistic practices via his gameplay. eg; sell at very cheap prices so all new players can afford tools and level up quicker and be on more equal footing with the vets

Yes, it seems to discourage price variations from what they consider “good” even though they generally sell at higher prices themselves. However, I really think everything is magnified because there aren’t that many people playing yet. I play several MMO’s that have ppl from all across the globe and the market works great for everyone. Very stable.

That’s interesting. At this point, I guess we should wait on the UK servers to Brexit themselves from the rest of the Boundless universe. LOL.

You mean “ultima misses a portal fuel run”? Lol what a time to be alive.

Oh no lol ;p I’ve given away some freebies and helped some noobs too. I’m too small of a fish to effect the economy though lol

I just don’t see the point in wasting time going after people for freely playing the game, within the rules of the game. It’d be like me going around harassing anyone that used - what I thought - was too many green blocks. I can go suck a lemon because there’s no point. No one gets to tell someone else what to do while in the game, if they are playing by the rules.

More people & more content will help everything a ton, I think. More venues to obtain/make some type of currency would be helpful.

Yeah, ditto to this. People want to have their cake and eat it too.I think where I get annoyed is people openly join a sandbox game but start complaining when free market elements start to appear. I sometimes wonder if its a generational thing? Life and this game is so much easier once you accept that you’ve just joined a game that encourages PVP elements.

But FYI to Vansten and others; this is why you don’t try to price this low especially when advertised on forums. Someone will bulk buy you out. It’s happened to me and others. I’ve seen multiple players do this and they get bought out and not have enough for regular customers. I can empathize but I also open free market elements to the game.

Btw, if anyone got to know Salvatore on a personal level, you’d know he’s a cool guy. Very helpful and intelligent with funny sense of humor (as indicated by his store name  ). Just because someone does something ingame that you don’t agree with, it doesn’t make them a bad person IRL. There’s plenty of people I disagree with but I would buy them a drink anytime.

Guys, I never intended this thread to be a whichhunt after Centless (I regret calling them out by name, but realized after editing them out probably wouldn’t have avoided this).

They bought all my stock, yes, but this has simply been a learning curve for me. I still plan to sell low from handtrades and sell just below normal from shop stands, but please don’t boycott Centless just because they did this.

I don’t want this to be an argument over the principles of the free economy, I just wanna sell some coils to those who need them

And we appreciate you for it. Thank you.

No worries. We all needed something to argue over today

I noticed you were buying silver at sort of high prices. I have a ton (currently have stocks of at least 20k) at my shop for 49c if you need a reliable, cheap, source.

Located at PS: Biitula Shopping Hub NE Corner, Top Floor, Store Name: “1/2c Rock Shop”

Would you be interested in rough oort shards or any other items in kind to trade for advanced coils? If not, no worries. I’ll sell the small amount I have and use the money to just straight up purchase what I’m looking for if any are still left.

Unfortunately, I released after i was actually buying them for too much - in order to still make a profit i would need to buy gold and silver at less than 30c each. As i figured this price was way too low, i simply stopped requesting both.

I would be happy to take oortstone, but if ya happen to have any emeralds, amethysts (or forged tools) on hand i would value those more highly ahha.

Plan to reopen my store within the next couple of hours. Stay tuned!
