So I was thinking about it the other day also made mention of it to a few people in discord. But was thinking it would be a pleasant change if XP foods no longer gave any hunger benefits so they could stack with other foods. Kind of like how you can drink a reviver brew and still drink another type of brew without losing it. The XP foods would likely get an increase in usage. Causing their price and the ingredients prices to increase which would be good for the gatherers and cookers alike. So please tell me what you guys think about it.
All for this idea … yes please
Yeah there’s a shortage of use for consumables this might help all of them, I know I’d love to use XP pies with starberry ones for gathering or mining.
I agree with everyone who values the culinary art!
Consumables that require a decision are cool. Like, do I want extra XP or more energy or more durability.
Consumable that require no decision and stack are bad design. Just take a look at Classic WoW if you want to see how that ends.
Know nothing of the game. Nor would I really compare that game to this one. And there would still be decisions to be made. Do you want more dura or energy. Just like more speed or strength.
I’d also say there’s brews that should be able to be stacked like glow n stealth. It would help get more use of of brews/foods. And increase the demand for them within the game. Giving more sales to people and more reasons to gather the mats for them.
As it is now. I’d bet that the most use the XP foods get are during the crafting of stone. Splendid use for them i guess. But less of a demand for people who mine or gather. I know some people use them during those activities but not on a regular basis or for a whole mining session.
I use Teaching Pies for pretty much everything. I’m burning through plots like there’s no tomorrow and need the constant XP intake, so when I’m building, crafting, mining, even farming, I make sure I have a Teaching Pie on the go. It’s a conscious choice for me - I care less about burning through tools, as I know I will get more XP when I craft more of them.
Yea and that works for the people that can afford it or does everything themselves. But as we know not everyone likes gathering. And even less like the forge or in some cases understand the forge.
Have to keep in mind the players who aren’t as established yet. Don’t know the best of the best spots. Still learning the ins and outs. The fastest ways to do things etc. If we always look at where we are and how easy things are for us, how will we improve things for people not in our specific scenario. Or even make things easier for them to get to where you are. We have thousands of hours in this game. We leveled when things were super cheesy(well not all of us used those methods still only a lvl 350)
So what you’re suggesting, with using teaching foods and other foods at the same time, can only really be used by the people that are established and can afford it anyway.
That to me, makes it sound more like there is a need to smooth out the earlier food progression… and maybe make the early game teaching foods more viable (and likely some of the other foods too) and easier to obtain earlier and make the ingredients comparable to the planet/player level.
Honestly, I would love for this too…
…but I think it would be too OP. Non-stop mining coupled with double XP gains. It feels like it would benefit the late game players much much more than the early game ones.
More OP than spacing out crafting tables just right so a pie works for each area? Oh and using a macro to make all those mass crafts too(pc perk only there)
I don’t think anything will be more OP than that.
Also there’s a lot of areas that could use work. Crafting being one of them. But bandaids seem to be the route that’s taken more than actually redoing it all
I don’t see that changing with the suggestion you’ve made. It will still happen regardless.
A craft all button would definitely be welcomed, but I think that’s a different suggestion.
No I was merely stating that mining still wouldn’t top what currently happens. Wasn’t looking to change that. Also note I keep 0 of my rock so I don’t do that method
I think adding an XP brew would add more options without hurting the “this or that” mechanic too much.
I would like to stack foods too. I’m with @FireAngelDth.
All I eat are teaching pies because I need plots. So I can’t use the others.
Stacking brews would also be nice for t7 and higher planets where the mobs get harder.
I am okay with a debuff if I over eat or drink. I’m not sure what that would be. Maybe something other than just a percent loss.
Something fun or funny. Like being tipsy and staggering around during the duration of the buffs.
I know adding skills isn’t usually popular here, but adding your tipsy debuff and also an iron gut epic that converts tipsy to just a percentage decrease in duration might be an interesting way to add stacking.
I think the staggering would be quite comical while fighting wildstock actually. Some accidental dodging
Today I learned. I always avoided other potions because I knew with how laggy/buggy meteors were I’d be dying.
Agreed, starberry and teaching would be insane XP/HR compared to currently available methods. Just starberry pie mining is more xp/hr than teaching pies without constant mining
I still think well fed buff should stack to cut back the tedium of having to scarf the meats, but for other buffs to stack there has to be a counterbalance somewhere, like an epic skill or maybe drinking an expensive brew that allows the food stack. Umbris brew opens up small void in your tummy for more foods
I like this idea. A definite needed adjustment IMO.
Or maybe increase buff slots so that every tier food have one buff slot, so that all level foods have use.
