Most likely not a complete list - but here’s a choice of suggestions like this in chronological order.
If we are still going to be able to loot anything in the future (assuming a player item bank goes into existence) it would be nice to be able to like melt down things to get core resources or break down machines for parts.
So a smelter or bench that can break apart items might be nice even if we just can use it on the things we have. Just something that can get me back down to some core resources even less than it cost to make it.
A salvager: it’s a machine of 4 blocks and its purpose is to break down machined or refined or compressed alloys and metals and possibly other crafted materials back into their raw ingredients. This would have the benefit of acting as an undo button or as a tool to break down components to retrieve specific materials, or perhaps later, otherwise unobtainable materials. There could possibly be a penalty of deconstruction such as you only get 50% return or a failure rate or something. Or even just…

You put stuff in and it dismantles it into base components (maybe not all recipes should be reversible)
It would give materials based on mass craft recipes so it wouldn’t be abusable.
Maybe not all recipes. But you should be able to turn a hammer into metal or a metal cube into metal bars for sure.
