I do not think this is a good response because you are supposed to be able to play any role. If they make one role so much less appealing that no one wants to do it , that is a problem. We need miners and hunters, they need to make both experiences fun/enjoyable to a broad range of people.
I want to be a builder and they did nerf that by adding ingredients to what I need to make the blocks. Even if I get more bricks in the new recipe, I have to put in more ingredients which means I have to collect them. I have not been collecting ash and mud and now I have to. I now have to find enough Waxy earthyams to make refined blocks. Even if I use less of something else, I still have to go to a higher tier world for something that I did not have to add in before. This is more grind, more time away from what I want to do in game. Spend days gathering and crafting in order to spend an hour building.
I never got 1500 gems per hour bomb mining. Iām sure you could with some forged 7m bombs, but comparing that to mining with an iron hammer is a pretty dishonest comparison.
If I get 50 gems an hour with an iron hammer, or 50 an hour with iron bombs, I choose iron bombs.
If I get 150 an hour with a forged titanium hammer, or 150 with a forged titanium bomb, I choose titanium bombs.
If I get 350 and hour with forged gem hammer, or 350 an hour with other gem bombs, I choose bombs.
Iām not sure what the ambiguity with my previous post was.
Perhaps youāre the exception, but Iām fairly sure that the reason why most people liked bomb mining so much was because it was ridiculously faster and cheaper to mine for gems with them compared to hammer mining.
A top-notch forged diamond hammer with 3x3 aoe was laughably slower, had a much worse yield, and lasted a lot less, than an equally well-forged bag of topaz bombs. Would you disagree that there was a heavy imbalance there?
One of the most viewed topics seems to support that notion:
The plain titanium bombs that a lot of us were using did nothing like that. It was a small area of only a 3 radius. That picture there used special forged ones from what I understand. It did a huge radius compared to what most of us were doing. During the last two weeks that I have been mining gems I never once came across where some used the kind you linked to.
Most of the areas where I hammer-mined recently were completely riddled with about 10x10 (at the widest) bomb tunnels, to the point where I just gave up mining entirely for the last few weeks because I couldnāt find any areas that didnāt look like Swiss cheese.
But on the other hand, I have always refused to use bombs for mining, even when apparently everyone was using nothing else, seeing as they were, in my view anyway, intended as combat tools and not mining tools, so I donāt have first hand experience on their usage. My only experience with them is what Iāve read on the forums here, as well as running into the giant swiss cheese caves that make it impossible to effectively mine with a hammer. And from the post I linked, as well as others similar in nature, people were getting a lot more resources with their bombs than I was with my hammers.
Iām probably in the small percentage that actually finds it fun to spend hours underground slowly chipping away at rock and making perfectly square and evenly spaced branch mines.
Edit: Hereās another example, posted just now on another topic like this one:
500 diamonds would take me about a week and several stacks of hammers.
One week for you to be able to make 1 mass craft of gems that you will spent in less than 1 day?! Thatās not at all fun; now the time i spent doing other important things i have to mine for hours only to be able to make 1 mass craft that wonāt even last me a day⦠If you chose to mine with hammers thatās your choice, i just donāt get why those of us who used bombs have to be punished for it? The game is supposed to be boundless right? Not so much it seemsā¦
When I was mining I ran into the holes too but i just mined one over from then getting what they missed. I use to enjoy mining out areas to build (with a hammer) but this gem mining (with a hammer) just sucks to me. I guess because I need to find something in order to achieve my goal and it is so easy to miss that diamond seam with the hammer. Also because i feel like I am forced to do this to progress in the game and it is takes so long and is so grindy. I was going to get gleam club but not as things are now. Maybe they will fix stuff. With all the nerfs these last two patches I have just had enough. I think for now I am just going to go find something else to spend my time on. I guess I will just log in and keep my beacons going and see if stuff changes.
I completely disagree. I have five alts so far, and Iām having a blast with them. Iām giving each of them their own unique names and personalities. Iāve been playing almost entirely singleplayer, and enjoying it a ton. To each his own, I suppose.
I donāt use them to collect anything i use them to break the blocks around what i wanna get. Bombs are now just useless. And before you say use them for combat have you been on a high level hunt with bombs? They barely do damage to mobs at all, they will make holes that people will fall and die either to the fall damage that is ridiculous or to the mobs. If bombs were never intend for mining then why make them break blocks? They should have changed this on beta not now that game has been launched and the majority of players uses this mechanic.i
You kinda reinforced my point. Both in the fact that you admit at the end, to each his own, which is true. Not everyone is the same, and for most people, playing multiple alts is no fun.
But also in the face you have 5 alts. Not 1 or 2, you have FIVE alts to play with. Each with their own job I am betting, as would would be the point of making 2 characters that are the exact same and do the same thing.
Thatās good for you, but most people wonāt play that way.
High-end forged bombs were crazy, but I saw someone chewing through Serp with a forged emerald hammer way faster than I could bomb through it.
I know the gap between the 7-radius bombs and the forged gem hammers is a lot smaller than people think. I think a lot of people were comparing forged topaz bombs with 7m radius to their iron hammer. And that made people angry.
When I started bomb mining, my yields were much lower. It took a lot of practice and patience to get titanium bombs to work for me, and I never had the resources to forge them and get better results. I was hoping this patch would let me get the shimmering orbs to try out the forge.
Yes, titanium bombs are much more effective than iron hammers. Titanium hammers are a lot better than iron hammers. Forged copper hammers can be better than iron hammers. The problem people had with hammer mining is crappy hammers. Gold and silver hammers seriously should be buffed to be clearly better than iron hammers. I have no idea why the devs ignore alloy hammers.
but complaining about something not being boundless, because a function is removed (while millions of other functions never ben there) is still trollingā¦
im pretty sure if they had reduced the effectivness of bomb mining to be the same as hammer mining, the hate on this bomb nerf would be allmost the same, so the reason ppl complaining is not that they ācant play how they wantā its rather that they ācant get stuff that fast anymoreā.
dont get me wrong, its a valid thing to complain.
But then talk serious and not act like bomb minig was so much extrem fun, then if it was that, then it is still the same fun, you can still go underground and blast holes into the earth.
