Active player issue

New players incoming this holiday season (Well I hope so anyway!!!) I imagine there will be many people with playstation store and steam gift cards. fingers crossed

population is down we can see it on the steam charts and console players are low also.
I think they should put out some kind of invigoration type trailer… get folks interested.

However, i was all shop guy at one point but i kinda like being a hermit now, just building what i want without to much “business” to attend to.
Although i still have my shop which sells items and portals, it’s not as much as it once was.

It’s funny that people keep saying no new people are playing. I see new people fairly often popping into our settlement at least. Or jumping into discord and asking questions. People just need to relax. I still say the devs are doing a great job. Forum activity is down because like someone mentioned above, people are tired of reading complaints about every little change. You really think the devs are intentionally driving people away? Thats money out of their pockets.

New people play sure.
The whole community in-game is on much lower population.
Forget forums, it’s a very small minority that come here.

|Last 30 Days -13.26% (peak of 326 tracked players)

compared to console release and 1.0 release?

+267.91% 1000 tracked players peak

also they need to stop making massive changes of mechanics imo especially as it’s no longer an alpha or beta.

Best way to help promote a game is to flood the public forum with “its dead” and “the devs are ruining everything” comments. That’ll definitely help increase the population. Good work team.

I dont think we should base anything off of launch numbers. The game launched, a lot of people bought it and realized it wasn’t for them. This happens with literally every game. I’ve bought major games, played them for like 2 days and traded them in because I didn’t like it. Doesn’t mean it’s a bad game or bad design. It just wasn’t for me.

The major changes they’re making now are simply for the longevity of the game. Stuff going on behind the scenes that we have no idea about. Thats just the nature of MMOs. The success of the player in an MMO is basically how well you can adapt to changes. There will always be good changes and bad changes. And people will always ignore the good and call out what they believe to be the negative changes.

Doesn’t change the fact that the amount of current players is way too darn low!

Currently 267 people are playing. I mean, really? Even a few weeks ago that number was usually over 500, even at the quiet times…

I also stumble upon newbies. Atleast 1-3 weekly. They are so cute. Even though they arent super rare i still treasure them and throw everything i got at them.

My hope is that they feel slightly obligated to play the game  so im not really a philantropist.

It does pay off.

I gave one guy 30 persistence pie 50 fast brews a stack of forged gem slingbows and 10k as a welcome to the game telling him alot about how the game needed more hunters😏

Guy has since sold me a steady supply of oort for 150-160c i think he’s oort crystals constitutes 60% of my total used portal fuel up to this point.

Many small isolated “home town” settlements have died as people switch from that style of play to city life. People realized a couple weeks in that having 20 personal portals is kinda expensive. Why own your own when cities already have them? The gleam towers over the hill are calling you…

Also many inactive players are not gone, they’re just hibernating until X happens - new Boundless content; current AAA title gets boring, couple days off from work. It’s impossible to measure how many are not truly gone. And then there are people who used to play 10 hours a day who met all their personal goals and now only play a few hours a week here and there.

Just make some friends if you’re tired of playing alone. Boundless is nowhere near dead.

I occasionally see a newbie. I noticed one that was building a ways off and would periodically run all the way to my shop to use the portals. I felt bad, it was a heck of a distance and such a waste of time running all that way. I set up a portal from just outside the build to mine. It lets the player keep their isolation but gives a bit of convenience. I can afford a 1x2 portal without much trouble. My little contribution.
