Adding comments but getting opposite of what I ask for

Not being able to choose where the planet oribits is a major reason why I havn’t bothered with sovereign worlds myself.

To me, it seems like a basic feature thats been left out.

I haven’t bothered for the same reason. Tbh I probably wouldn’t keep one up anyway, but DEFINITELY not if I can’t pick where it goes

I haven’t got one myself but it seems there’s enough rng with sovereigns without the need for its location to be selected randomly.

I don’t know if it’s really RNG for server(orbit) selection, so much as a balancing decision/algorithm.

I mean I’m not sure how they’re managing it, but it’s not about having an RNG feature, it’s about balancing the server load. So if you’re trying to ‘roll’ a planet around a crowded planet, it’s not super likely.

So what happens, then, when everyone has ‘rolled’ past the ‘server load’? If this is an obvious case, then eventually a ‘limit’ would have to be reached in some way or another. At that point, do new public worlds ‘spawn’? Nah.

Here’s a thought - how about people who are dishing out real cash be allowed some semblance of a preference ‘within reason’ - until said reason has queued itself into oblivion?

I suppose at that ‘conjecture’ the developers could simply add a ‘selected region/ planet currently full’ message. This would then cause a new world to get shat out somewhere randomly across the cosmos. Simultaneously, the purchaser would now know it’s a completely hopeless cause trying to ‘roll’ a planet to their desired location… instead of literally wasting cash.

You weren’t the only one.

I can’t not throw my two cents in here - count me as another who threw away a bunch of money in attempts to get planets around my chosen spot. I’ve made at least one other post suggesting we be allowed to choose the planet within the server and tier selection. Edit: Or at least as @anon52472533 said, have some sort of preference system or ranking selection.

Actually, had it been a true 50/50 coin toss, I wouldn’t have been so upset, but it appears as stated above by @Nightstar that the system might be trying to weight or balance it out somewhat (I almost rage-quit after one bad streak)… not getting info on what the case actually is here has sort of left a bad taste in my mouth here, tbh. Is it a fair toss, or is it weighted? RNG is RNG if it IS a fair toss, but if it is weighted and could be seriously skewed by a bunch of planets expiring or such, then I could be trying roll after roll with little to no chance and not knowing it.

I’ve calmed down about it from my initial outburst… but thing is, rolling the rentals is VERY addictive for me. You’re looking at someone here who used to spend hours just firing up random Minecraft seeds looking for great ones to start on. This hits all my exploration addiction buttons. So I’m finding myself playing while fighting the urge to buy more, yet not even knowing what the odds are that even if I roll a really great one, will it be of use for my hub?

The compulsion on buying is totally on me, and that is the reason as I mentioned in another thread that I’m considering taking a break soon, or just doing enough to keep everything going. And this game will always have a special place in my heart, this community is the best out there, I’ve made true friendships here, and who knows what the future will bring… I also hope to see great new things, and if I do end up breaking maybe be back with fresh life after.

I get it. When I get bored, I start mulling over another planet. I swear the only thing that stops me is the walk of shame to ask James to delete cause having unused planets up there makes my OCD nuts.
Were he to add our own way of deleting, there’s be noooo stoppppingggg meeeeeee.
But where it orbits can be a deal breaker though. I agree. I appreciate they have their reasons. I firmly believe they’d let us if there wasn’t something that makes it less than optimal.

Hahaha, yeah, ditto that on the walk of shame, I’m sure I’d have done a fair bit more too if I could have scrapped my unwanted ones myself right away, had no reminders. As it is, choice becomes - “Do I annoy them even more by asking for another large batch to be scrapped, or allow the planets to waste precious space?”

And yeah, when I’m sitting here bored is when I’m most at risk - “Even if on Norkyna, hey, you can explore it and pass the rest of the day more quickly! What’s another $10 here?” :smiling_imp:

Selecting the planet your sov orbits is not a feature, and the community answered that for you. I don’t know what support response you wanted to hear?

No, developers have a label by their name.

You can only select the overall region your planets are in. Selecting which specific planet your Sovereign orbits, has never been available.

In the upper right area of this forum is a link to the devs. You can directly message them if you’d like to. You can also send an email support@turbulenz.com .

Did that on 12/07/2020 @ 03:57 pm (eastern), no confirmation email received that they got my request or was a timeframe provided for a response.

Exactly. So is the community supposed to provide support to the players? My issue cannot be handled by the community.

Confirming if changing the orbit planet is possible in my request should only be handled by the company, not by a peanut gallery.

I think it’s answered in the FAQ. If selecting the specific location was an option, that would have been here.

I get it but if I reach out for the possibility of having that changed instead of doing a paypal dispute, having a refund issued, then taking another stab at getting a planet within the home hub I have setup…Just does not make sense.

Currently players are not able to select which world a sovereign world orbits. As have been shared this is referenced in the FAQ.

I think it’s worth adding why as multiple people have commented they would like to control their location.

  1. Currently a sovereign world will be attached to a world of the same level (or the closest it can find) in the desired region. This means that the universe makes sense from a difficulty perspective - so that we don’t have high level worlds orbiting lower level worlds.

  2. The automatic placement also keeps the universe balanced. If players can select the world manually then the concern was that a small set of worlds would then end up with the vast majority of sovereigns orbiting them. How would we manage the sky of a world which is orbited by 100+ worlds? So we needed to try and maintain a balanced universe.

The issue with moving a world that is already in the universe is that I don’t know what would happen with the warp or portal costs already setup within the universe.

Additionally:

Worlds are generated and placed online via an automatic process. The final comment question on the survey isn’t reviewed before worlds are generated.

Just because i’m legitimately curious, what is the point of the final comment question then?

I would have assumed it was to give input into how you want the world to be generated, but as this isnt the case i’m not sure what it would be for.

It was simply a question to gather general feedback from players about the game. Anything really. It’s not part of the world generation process. Sometimes people give comments about improvements they would like, etc.

If it’s confusing then we can remove it.

But we wanted to give players who don’t normally contribute to the community a mechanism to share some comments + feedback.

well, then there’s something we can possibly improve:
How about adding a check if the user already has a sovereign of the same tier so they orbit the same planet?
That way the majority of planets will be spread but users still can enjoy having their own purchased high tier planets next to each other (instead of being unable to connect them directly)
