Anyone else feel Monumental have just picked up boundless for the little trickle of gleam club etc

I just hope if there is money going into someone’s unfinished product they would be more likely to improve it, but I guess its not really unfinished, just full of potential.

Local universes and Sovereigns is just another lazy cash grab micro-transaction.
Ruined the economy. When block colours were no longer rare. ie pay to win
I would of preferred and offline version like Minecraft.
But alas there’s no money in that.

There was an offline version planned with the next update, I guess due to their being no money in that that’s why they have stated they have no intention of releasing that update…

Offline version was the local universes unless Im mistaken.

oh no :frowning: we make games in Boundless tho…

The only thing this community can do is vote with its wallet and get together as a whole and stop using gleam club to force either A: investment into the title or B: Shutdown of the title and force their hands to do something other than sit silently preying off the last glimmer of hope this community has the game is sadly on life support I want to see it flourish I miss this game so much but I refuse to play it given its circumstances.

And I mean this with the best possible intentions Monumental need to do something or sell it to someone who will and only the players have the power to make that happen Hearth Guard has and will continue to vote with its collective wallets.

I’ve reached the point where I’m pretty sure Monumental won’t push any updates out. I get needing 6 months to a year for a transition, but after 2 years, we need something of substance.

Looking back, I think Wonderstuck priced themselves out of the market a bit, because Minecraft is still cheaper than Boundless even after Mojang’s/Microsoft’s price increases, offers full modding support, and can be server-hosted by players.

Also, I don’t mind optional membership in an MMO or subscriptions for dedicated servers, but there needs to be enough base content and/or regular updates to warrant them.

This game was something special, and it hurts to see it neglected.

The base content is there… the regular updates are not.

Start a new character without taking any coins or blocks from anyone and see how long it take you to create a large base out of whatever material you want. If I’m totally honest with myself, I don’t think I finished a single project or build of mine. Maybe a shop or two in some malls.

Sandboxes and the niche they fit in are notorious for creating a state of boredom for players that includes Minecraft in all its glory with all its modding and modpacks and updates. I played it for years and still go back and play it every so often.

Most sandboxes especially with building rely on creativity and the willingness to keep building. No update is really going to solve the problem of bringing in new players sadly nor will it solve the boredom of the players that are bored. But hey, maybe they fix the New Player Experience… and you get your update … but will that fix the boredom… doubtful.

Then again, some shiny new swords and shields will be super cool and give you a ton of content!!!

Sigh, saracism aside, 95% of the game will always be the same …an additional 5% of content won’t fix the current state of the game for the current player base it would be more ideal to focus on bringing in new players and creating a new player experience (tutorials and guides), etc.

NPE: 28% of players never even leave the Sanctum
58% never place and fuel a beacon
60% never learn a skill
78% never go through a portal
82% never chisel a block
91% never joined another settlement

And for $39.99 all that “fun” can be yours too.

Interesting … not that any of that data is factual but could be who knows.

The one part of the current NPE that actually does guide you is to grab totem and warp augment and shoot a planet. I’ve actually gone through the game as a new toon about 5 times now just to document a few things and to test some theories/questions I had as well as some others.

Some more precise statistics would be something like:

50% of the forum users complain about an update
50% of the forum users complain about communication
50% of the forum users enjoy the game
50% of the forum users don’t enjoy the game

I enjoy data, while I know my numbers are made up I’m pretty sure almost ALL players make it out of the Sanctum.

I’ve actually had 12 friends and family at least try the game since I’ve played it. I never had the question of, “WTF do I do?” until a bit later. The game does semi-guide you to a point, but as it is with any sandbox, it doesn’t totally hold your hand.

For those that don’t remember there are these little popups which guide you pretty well. Now for me, what made me quit for 2 weeks prior to coming back was after I got out of sanctum, I followed the little popups and quests but thought I was completely alone.

The game should give you that feeling you get when you are walking into Portal Seekers or TNT Mega for the first time. That alone probably would hook players simply seeing how large the universe actually is.

Anyways, if your numbers are factual, it’s pretty sad.

Funny enough the tutorial does guide you through leaving the sanctum.

If 28% of the players actually never leave the sanctum … no offense … but they may want to rethink playing video games.

The numbers gives are easy to get by looking at your achievments. It shows what percentage have completed the achievement and you just subtract the difference. Now it could be different between Playstation and pc but i am guessing they are pretty close to the same.
