Are there any plans for Boundless this year?

Special events and the craftable items that they allow?

Good Idea will add IT to the list :+1::+1::+1:

Heed your own advice and be quiet yourself, instead of adding more fuel to the fire. And with that, I have nothing more to discuss with you. Goodbye Xal.

No surprise I’m sure, but I fully agree with all of this.

Actually I do take my advice. I complained and stated my view on how unhappy I was at the Dev’s actions and more than a few times said they have massively screwed up. I then let it basically go. Instead of focusing on that, I actually play the game some and help people in the game as well as forum when they want to enjoy it for what it is…

I don’t quit, come back, quit, etc. and then try to character assassinate the Devs or the game and constantly complain every few weeks in the forum like so many others that we see. They are the ones that can’t move on and accept the decisions that are made about how things are being handled by the Devs right now…

As for the fire… I’m not adding any fuel to the fire of the consistent ā€œthe game is dead/abandoned and the Devs must tell us why they won’t say anything.ā€ I’m just asking people to please just move on and learn to accept the decision to communicate like they do because it helps no one and actually drives new players away.

So this lead to the mass extinction of players back in 2018 after the free weekend? Player retention has always been an issue. This game doesn’t cater to a wide audience, in a way I’d consider this a cult classic. Its just how the game is designed. Its not fair to blame the community for the state of the game. It just looking like another tea party is about to start…

I’m not blaming the community for the state of the game. Anyone that actually takes the time to read my statements should clearly see that. Any person that has taken time to look at the game also knows it has had a consistent player adoption and retention problems - especially those of us that were playing in Early Access times.

I’m calling out those that keep coming back and talking bad about the game by saying stuff like the game is abandoned or dead, etc. Even stuff like what started this last set of posts from me:

This type of communication is disparaging the main person for this game and trying to sway people into thinking he doesn’t care about Boundless. James has clearly stated that they are trying to find time to work on the game. He has clearly responded to people in the forums and stuff for support, etc.

We’ve had people that have given up on the game because of comments from that type of communication style and others that never even tried the game when seeing stuff on Steam. Those new people don’t understand the history and take comments like that at face value. So people can flag my posts and disagree as much as they want but that type of communication style and consistent negative talk about the situation the game is in, does nothing to help anyone here. It only hurts it.

James certainly isn’t acting in a way that anyone likes but there are more constructive ways to share those viewpoints that doesn’t drive new people away. One of the easiest is - ā€œWhile James’ actions aren’t helping anything in settling our concerns and we feel it is hurting the game a lot, we don’t really know why he won’t respond.ā€ Because the truth is you don’t - yeah maybe he has given up but maybe not. At the end of the day we won’t know until either an update comes out or the servers are turned off or he actually does a post.

If James has a problem with how people are talking about his game… In lieu of fixing the game, I would dare him to actually show up and confront them. Or send a representative.

Ya know. Public relations stuff. Like what normal companies do.

For me IT sucks when people are talking Bad about a Game because they are bored because No new content IS coming… If thats the Case leave and Go Home and let Other people have fun with IT or new people trying IT !!!

I always thought you were a Boundless user, but I just found out that you are James’s free attorney. Come down from the cloud. No developer cares about you, and neither does we. Stop creating false beliefs that they will really get on with the game when they ā€œhave time to work on itā€.

No, no, not ā€˜free attorney’. It’s just that he spent something like $5000 dollars on a package for the game when it was in early access, for which he had a perk allowing him to have regular chats with James, which in turns allowed him to repeat all the god damn time ā€œI’ve had a conversation with James, we talked about this and thatā€.
I’m sure that was a great investment, retrospectively. ^^

We don’t all have to agree with each other, but we should be civil. Attacking each other serves no purpose.

To be fair, without the investment from early backers like Xal, the game might not exist at all.

just… lol

Careful Vex, you’ll give him a stroke out of sheer satisfaction if you start saying we owe the game existing to him.

I mean, look, I said ā€œgoodbyeā€ to Xal, and he still came back at me with two more quotes, with unwarranted comments, when I was avoiding making remarks aimed at him (as you know, my resentment is toward James), saying that I’m a threat to the game’s survival (then Ardele says ā€œyou’re blaming the communityā€ and he goes ā€œno I’m notā€, because what, I’m not part of the community, I guess), that I’m making baseless accusation to his best bud James (because poor James can’t defend himself), implying that I’m lesser because I quit playing, then come back, then leave, come back, etc.

So I’m done trying to argue with Xal, he’s now one of the rare people in my muted-list, and I won’t reply to him anymore. It’s a waste of time, there is never any argument to be had with him.

Yeah, I’m sure people say I’m annoying, but you think he’s different? Do you know how many people contacted me in DM to tell me how much they’re sick of Xal? The stories I’ve been told about him?
Basically every time he butts-into a discussion to make a big deal out of something small and alienates all the participants.

Yeah, game is still right now kind of good state: Not gone to F2P way and that could restrict gameplay for existing players way or another.

One thing I do wish would have been a thing, is beacons of prestigious builds lasting longer, during this content lull.

At least something that’d make it less likely for big, recognizable builds to vanish from someone taking a break.

Love the game and the niche it fills. Sadly the game never took off. I continue to play it as I want to help out the community we have. Small or large it’s still a community and since I still enjoy the game why not play it, have some fun and along the way help some people out.

I have been very vocal over the past year about the game and I understand both sides of this and I walk a fine line down the middle, but I never felt the need to attack someone. I have however rebutted a few negative posts from some of the very people commenting on this thread, but I do respect their opinion and at times they say some of the things some of us don’t like to hear, but it doesn’t make them wrong. They may have used a less PC or tactful way of saying it than I would have, but as I stated it doesn’t make them wrong.

You can look at the numbers of max players that were in the game even go back to release… 1200 max players via Steam is really low especially on a game that I am sure had millions thrown at it. All that said, it doesn’t make it a bad game.

There is no new content and I don’t feel that new content is really needed. That doesn’t mean I don’t want new content, that doesn’t mean others are going to be as happy as I am to play the game in it’s current state, but attacking each other just seems silly.

I don’t know @Xaldafax, @anon34275467, and a few others personally, but I do know they have a love for the game or had it. I can venture a guess that they still love the game and I don’t think they would be here still if they didn’t.

Personally, I don’t care if James or anyone from the dev team ever says a word from this point on. I am just going to play the game until it’s time to move on. I will however NEVER agree with the lack of communication and that lack of communication from the devs has only made things worse. Communication from the devs however wasn’t ruined the game as I find it hard to digest that Boundless never had more than 1200 max players on the PC. I love the game, play it every day and stay active, but with only 1200 max players on the PC makes me hard to find the game a success.

I think Majorvex summed it up well enough:

We can’t all be happy with the game as you are, sadly. I still love the game and keep hoping that it’ll get a second wind. But that’s not up to us, and me venting isn’t going to prevent it, same way that me not venting isn’t going to make it happen either. There is no actual proof that any of what we say down here matters in the slightest.

Understood! It was just a general statement and not to anyone in particular. Sorry if it came off as such!
